My Question: I have recently started running again after over three years. I now have extremely painful shin splints. What can I do to help them heal quickly so I can get back to running? -Shahla (Corpus Christi, TX)

Obi Obadike Answer: You need to rest for a couple of days and ice your shin for 20 to 30 minutes every 4 hours to ease the pain and swelling. Do this for 2 to 3 days and see if that helps with the pain and if that doesn’t you may need to get some aspirin or ibuprofen for the pain. If the pain last for a week then I would advise going to a doctor and checking to see if you have stress fractures. I hope this advice helps you!
