I understand what you're saying however...
My interpretation of this cartoon was more along the lines of putting things in perspective for those in the USA who do turn a blind eye to the rest of the world. The thing is that everyone in America has choices. When gas (or anything for that matter) is more expensive, then some might need cut back on something else if they have to. I hear people every day griping about gas prices. The other day I was paying for gas at a Turkey Hill and the guy in front of me was hissing and moaning about how much it cost to fill his tank... at the same time he was buying $20 worth of lottery tickets.
