There appears to not have been much development in any combat flight sims in recent years, at least ones that are not Arcade style.
One of my all time favourites is
this. A couple of years ago some people released a less bugged and hugely updated version of it called BoB 2: Wings of Victory. Unfortunately last I tried it I couldn't get it to work well with my graphics card and drivers.
