Lightbulb Q:Aerobics Music with singing or purely instrumental, which do you prefer?

Hello,

I hope you are all doing fantastic!

The following questions all assume the music in question would be solid beat driven 4/4 120-140 bpm music. With that said may I ask...

1. Which do you prefer aerobics music with singing or no singing/purely instrumental?

2. If you are neutral on the singing or no singing aspect of things, would positive, non-preachy, non-religious, "life is good" type of lyric themes be acceptable for you or problematic?

3. Would a quality, classically trained, (yet not to oldish/heavyish) say (Groban ish, Bocelli) type voice in the beat and synth mix; a.disturb, b.not affect, or c.be cool with you?

Thank you so much for your feedback and opinions;
~Marcus

singing with good lyrics is good music.
instrumental music has to be very upbeat and motivating (like rocky ost instrumental) but basically i prefer music with singing.l

i think it depends on your target audience.

I always found that - as an instructor - I HAD to like the music and find it motivating. I couldn't motivate my class if I didn't like the music myself, especially for unconditioned / beginner classes.

Why? Well, for me the lower intensity classes needed more motivation, and hence better music. The conditioned / advanced guys want to train so music is slightly less of an issue.

It is important however i found that music that simply goes thud-thud-thud-thud with no vocal or rythym hook becomes demotivating and boring.

also a vocal break in a track can allow time for coaching, technique assistance, resting etc without worrying about shouting over the beat.

I find lyrics that I identify with very motivating. When it comes to instrumental music and working out, I'd prefer that it be GOOOD music, not thumpy disco music. That way I get lost in listening to the amazing sound and forget about the pain! LOL. For lyrics, I prefer positive themes, and rather not hear the porn-for-the-ears lyrics when I'm working out. For instrumental, there is nothing like a little bit of Victor Wooten to get me entranced.

Are you making your own tracks? Do you want to share some of your music when you're done? I'm always interested to see what music other people find motivating And I'd love to hear that classically trained voice!
