Sounds like HIIT to me. Excellent for fat-burning

Back when I played football a few years ago our coach had a great sprint workout he would have us do. We would line up on the goalline and he would stand on the 40. He would blow the whistle and we would sprint to him, back to the goalline, back to him, and then back to the goalline. This was one set of "40s". We would do three sets at a time with about 45-60 seconds in between. We did this at the beginning, middle, and end of each practice for a total of 9 sets. This was brutal on top of a normal practice. To make it worse, he would time us and if we didnt meet the required time, everyone would have to run another one until everyone made it under time. For a reference for anyone thinking about this, a good time to make every set under is 25 seconds. It might seem like a long time for running 160 yards, but trust me, it is very difficult to make all 9 sets under this time.

sounds to me like u are workin on fitness and not sprinting ...True sprint work requires more rest in between each sprint .....A good sprint session would in volve a range of sprints from 10m to 50m .....if you want to work on power ..start each one in a sprinters position ...if you want to work on fitness then just start standing . On a session we do up to 60 sprints a night followed by other training . You might only do this once a fortnight and never too close to matches Again ..it depends on what you are after ...For power long recovery between each one ....for fitness ...short recovery between each one
