Default What to eat before and after a jog

I've been lifting for a few months now and i need to start doing some form of cardio to burn off this flab iam starting to develope around my wasteline from all the food ive been eating to try and get bigger.

I decided iam going to jog for 20 to 30 minutes 3 times a week.. what would be the best food to eat before i start to jog? A simple carb like a fruit or more complex like pasta or bread? And do you think 20 to 30 min is enough to burn fat but KEEP the muscle iam trying to gain.

i dont think u have to worry about burning muscle with only 20-30 mins of jogging.

but i usually just eat a banana, or a small piece of bread, and the same after the run

After is your best bet! Plan the run before a meal.

if im not mistaken, eating before a jog will first burn the calories of the food, and then burn the excess calories your body holds. so it would be counter-productive to eat just before a jog, in the case of losing fat.

after working out simple carbs and protein with little to no fats.

i drink a whey protein shake with dextrose(simple sugar) immediatly after the workout. and 30-60 minutes later either meat, fish, or chicken along with potatos.
