Not In The Mood?
well, im trying to train for the NEw York marathon in 1 year, but sometimes when i go to the gym i cant run.
Some days i can only run for 10 minutes and then i give up, but then some days i can run for a whole hour! <------ thats my longest so far.....
it pisses me off cause i know i can run, but i feel unmotivated some days where i just have no energy to run for some reason. but other days i can just run and run and run and run and run........
in your experience what is the best way to counteract this........
thanks for all your help!

I always find that having a workout partner can REALLY help. Hopefully between the two of you, ONE of you can help motivate the other. I remember many times when I was going to blow off a workout session, then getting a call from my buddy saying, "lets go!!" Don't forget to reciprocate and get your buddy to the gym when he/she's is unmotivated.
Try and find someone else that's training for that marathon? Or, convincing a friend to do it with you.
Good luck!!

erm first off i always think u should incoperate all kinds of training in running, be it for competition or cadiovasluar heaith. Maybe on days where u think u are not gonna make it, why not go for a quick HIIT (sprint jog) or uphill sprint and on days u are feeling great, u can go for 10, 20 km run???
These way training never get stale and all aspect of ur cardiovaslur health is covered?
Btw, running on treadmill is no way to train for marathon IMO, they dun teach u how to pace and they do not emulate the same harsh condition during a marathon.

New York Marathon is a long way off. I wouldn't worry about training seriously for another few months anyhow. As long as you can put in half an hour a day now at the tread mill then I wouldn't worry about getting motivated to do any more. Wait till it gets a bit warmer and then just go outside.
Orientalkid is right. Treadmill is a bad way to train for a marathon anyway. Just use it for general conditioning and wait for the weather to improve to start doing anything long.

Try working toward a half marathon, pace things a bit more to your lifestyle so you know its achievable which eliminates the sabatoge.
