Anyone watching the Giro live?
OLN is offering live coverage of the Giro (for USA residents only) and although the camera has experienced slight break up from time to time, the commentary is fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone who is wishing to see this amazing spectacle. http://olntv.com/cyclysm/
Good stuff!

We don't get live coverage down here in Australia of the Giro. We were once able to see it on Fox's broadcast of RAI Italian Channel but not any more.
We get a 2 minute news bite on one News service only. Thank God for the net

www.cyclingnews.com
has a fantastic live report of all the major races....
sometimes I think there coverage is better than watching live via satellite... mainly cause the guys who do the reports are nutters and they really make you laugh...

http://www.cyclingnews.com is a great web site for Cycling info Brock. I beleive it is run by some Aussies, and they do have live coverage of most races.

In the UK, a number of satellite channels like EUROSPORT and SKY, show live and highlights.
I have only been able to watch a few repeats due to work pressures.... Cheers..

I'm watching it now, and I see Viatcheslav Ekimov run very fast (and he is 40).

Hmmmm, Ivan Basso is in a great shape, I think he'll win the giro.
He is thinking about the double really, I bet.

I agree. There are a lot of contenders this year but I think Ivan has the best chance at winning the Giro. If he wins it, then I believe he will go for the double and set his sites on the TdF.

I have no doubt he is setting himself for the double. I just think that in the modern era it is tuff, having said that he is not competing against Lance who is a freak of nature and only really ever set himself and the team for one race.

TTT sets stage for GC contenders!
CSC wins first Grand Tour TTT and Gonchar from Telecom in pink! 35 yrs old and 8 yrs since he donned the fleece for two days during the 98' Giro.
On a ride I did this evening there was a lot of talk of other contenders. Tom Danielson and Jose Rubiera seemed to be a hot topic and since they are very well placed after the TTT, Discovery has a lot of cards to play. Rubiera and Danielson are 38 and 44 seconds back respectively.
Other contenders for GC
5. Basso 11 seconds back
6. Salvodelli 20
9. Julich 33
12. Di Luca 49
13. Rebellin 54
14. Cioni 56
25. Cungeo 1:17
25. Ullrich 1:20
52. Simoni 1:56
103. Rugano 2:46
Time to let the racing begin!

When I saw Gontchar was in pink my first thought was "isn't he like 40 or something"
Was gonna ask in this post, but Brock beat me to it. Presumably he will drift rearwards when the road tilts uphill?

I'd imagine that T Mobile can hold the jersey for at least a week until we hit first difficult Mountains next Satruday on Stage 13.

I believe tomorrow and sunday we'll a good show. Simoni, but also Cunego, need to gain time, before the individual crono stage, and sunday the lanciano pass can be a good point to attack, and before the street is ondulate.
I think Simoni has enough courage to try.

This is Di Lucas best chance to regain time in his own backyard so lets see if he can rally to the top of the GC

Di Luca wasn't so brilliant today, he risk to lose giro on the own country roads. The others favourites instead seem very good, Savoldelli very good, and tomorrow J think we'll see a battle.

Di Luca was terrible today. I hope he can rebound for tomorrow b/c as you said, stage 8 may be a big time battle and reshape the GC. Honchar looked good and stayed in the wheels to regain the jersey from teammate Pollak.
