Agreed but so does every sport. Cyclists should hold their heads high because at least we are actively trying to clean it up. Not like so many sports that just put their head in the sand.

Baseball didn't ban steriods until 2002 what a joke they don't want to really fix anything they are afraid of pissing the players off. Don't get me started on Football.

Doing that stuff to come back from injury or illness is one thing, but not during competition. There will always be cheaters it's good that they are looking for them.

For anyone that is interested I'm rerading a great book at the moment called Blood Sport. It is written by Robin Parisotto and published by Hardie Grant Books.
Robin is an Austalian researcher from the AIS (Australian Institute of Sport) who developed the test boold test for EPO used at the Sydney Olympics.
His book goes into great detail about the extent of doping through the 80s and 90s not only in cycling but all sports it is well worth a read if anyone can get their hands on a copy.

Well, yesterday the police has arrested the owner of the gym near my house because he deals anabolics.
We are drowing in a sea of doping.

Not a preformance enhancing drug at any sporting level.
It's not about what gets taken it's about the fact that they all claim they are clean then they get caught.
I would have no problem if they all came out and said we a re on the gear but they don't.

Exactly. Let us not be under any illusion that those who recently thrilled us with their exploits at the TDF did so on bananas and mineral water alone. I have competed at a very high level in this sport and I can attest to that alone. I think the UCI should be open and look at the problem in terms of the riders health not for any sporting "fraud".
Be that as it may. I may be wrong, and I don't want to cast aspersion unnecissarily, but I am quite sure that my heroes on the bike are on gear, and that in no way diminishes my love of the sport or the way I appreciate their riding.
The best riders would be at the top if no-one was using, or if everyone was using. The playing field is still level now, maybe artificially high, but still level.
Give the riders their due, racing in a multi-week tour at the pro-tour level is probably the toughest thing there is to do sporting wise, and the pressure on the riders to earn their salaries is enormous.

This probably will need its own thread before long, but the reports in the Dutch press are that one of the top 5 at this years TDF has returned a positive A sample... So now we wait for the B result and to see who is next...

Is there any talk as to who the rider may be?

There is serious talk of it being Landis... Seems he was due to ride a post tour crit and disappeared before the start without telling the organisors or anyone. Went to his doctor in Germany... My boy Robbie Hunter was with him, and says it was cause of Landis' hip, but seems unusual...

It's like you WANT the guy to test post.!!! You are just repeating hearsay and rumors, what part of any of your statements can you back up with proof? It's smack like this that ruins the sport, your the person that gets this bs started before Landis evern takes a shower!!!! Your "boy" Robbie hunter...lol
