My new ride
I can't ride a regular bike anymore because of some dried disks in my lower back so I invested in this recumbent tadpole trike. Very comfortable. Looking forward to some long distance rides once I get my endurance back.

- Make sure you have one of those very tall orange flags, because you are very low to the ground and cars will not see you.
- Climbing, I've heard, is very laborous and slow, so be patient
- May want to set up on rollers or indoor trainer before you head out on the road... or for rainy days.
- Watch your brake pads!
Good luck, be safe and have fun!

It comes with a tall orange flag. Fortunately, where I live, traffic is not much of a factor and most of the roads I ride have a good shoulder. Not much in the way of hills out here either except for a few bridges. You can't stand on the crank when hill climbing so you have to rely on spinning up a hill which is slower. I'll be purchasing rollers later on along with cleated shoes when I get back into it a little more. Thanks for the advice.

Have over 120 mile on this trike now. Bought some cleated shoes and a large insulated water bottle. Longest ride to date is about 15 miles and I'm lovin it. My bike computer crapped out on me though so for the time being I'm judging distance by total travel time. Can anyone out there recommend a good durable computer? I don't seem to have much luck with these things holding up.

...I have a CATEYE brand bike computer on my bike. Have 3000 miles on it and it has only messed up when the contacts have shifted...and that's only been twice I think, requiring only a simple adjustment by me.
Mine gives you cadence, speed, avg speed, distance, elapsed time, and time of day. I highly recommend it.
