Hi all, Draper here
Am knew to this forum, never been on the bicycle bit before. However, i do enjoy a little cycle now and again, normally just about 5miles or so, and want to get it going more regular this summer.
The bike i use is pretty old, was originally found in a skip by my stepdad and his mate told hime to keep it as it was half decent. Its a road bike really no suspension or anything. the frame and wheels are fine and straight and everything though
Got a puncture the other day, so had the rear wheel off where i noticed the chain and sprockets were being lubricated on a thick layer of dirt, so i took the opportunity to turbse it all down and you can actually tell they were once made of metal and not dirt! Whilst i was doing so today, i thought why dont i strip the bike down, wire wool the frame, spray it up a good colour, replace the old rusted nuts and bolts - then i'd have a nice new looking bike (hopefully)
Just wondering what ideas anyone has, about paint to use, what to scrub it down with etc. Also do bicycle chains need lubing? i have a motorbike and once i cleaned the chain on the bicycle i used my wurth dry chain lube on the chain, thought it couldnt do any harm and its designed to keep the chain dry and clean whilst still lubricated
cheers everyone
