Well I'd really like to accomplish a few things
1). Lose about 20 lbs
2). Get a bigger chest
3). Bigger arms
4). Work on the 6 pack
5). Get a nice nutrition plan.
I'm 5-7, 180lbs, 22, male, pretty decent shape, I can bench about 235, but havent been doing anything for a while because the gym is too far, there's one at college but Im only there 4 days a week. I was wondering if there's any work out routines, where I can get by with dumb bells a bar bell and a bench. Is that possible?

You can do a whole lot with dumbells, a barbell and a bench. One thing though how many dumbell sets do you have? Do you have adjustable ones? Well 4 and 5 on your list can be helped in the nutrition section, 2 and 3 can be helped right in this forum and 1 you would need to use info from both nutrition and this forum. A good start for the nutrition part is reading this thread My Nutrition Class Thread and this is a good one for workouts A Collection Of Our Best and Our Sticky Posts Make sure you read all the stickies and do a search for any question you might have because someone may have asked it already if you didnt find it in a search just start a thread and ask.

Im transferring into one of the top 5 culinary schools in the country and the nation has 64 Master Chefs and this one school has 4 of them so I will be taught by some of the best in the country. I will be a future chef but I cook a whole lot now and yes I can make at least 4 kinds of cheesecake, come over to my house sometime and if I like you enough maybe I'll make you one. Oh I see you want a Chef of your own sorry but I think my rates would be too high for you

Welcome to all the new members!
It's a real pleasure to have Homer Simpson on board. D'oh!
Havuar - that's the same split I used for years until I got to the point where I just couldn't recover adequately between workouts. Now I just train each body part once a week. As long as it keeps working, stick with it!

Well that sounds amazing and I know how challenging that can be, although the food network is one of the only areas I have seen behind the scenes in kitchens also CIA show. My other half loves those shows and I like a few myself......although I am more into the discovery network with occ and love spike channel ufc and stuff.......tomboy at heart!

'ello. Great website. I've trained off an on for a few years but have recently pretty much stopped. I'm ready to get back into it (need motivation) and this website is the perfect thing. I'm 6'6'' and about 215. Definately lost some strength recently though even in the past I've never benched over 250. Quick question, are there some people that respond only to the heaviest, most frequent training? I've read some hardgainer and HIT stuff. I've tried a bit (maybe wasn't doing it right) but it never did anything crazy for me.
However, at one point during my training I started working out every day very (5-6 days a week) hard for maybe a month. I definately gained strength and size during that month while also loosing body fat.
To put my question plainly, are there some body types that respond best to very intense periodized training (month on 2 weeks off) type of thing rather than the 1-2 hardgainer workouts per week? Or was that good results month just an example of how untrained I am for something like that to work?
Thanks,
|

hey, Jormangunder!
welcome to the EF community!
as for you question, it all depends on other considerations: nutrition, rest/sleep, regimen, etc... you've read it all here in the threads/stickies...
yes, there are different body types, but don't discount genetics.
basically, when you define your goals & objectives, along with your exercise regimen (don't forget cardio!), as well as your diet, it's amazing the results you can get... within reason
as you know, read the stickies at the top of the training forums and the health forums for more info & ideas!
great to have you here! see you soon!

Thanks
Thanks for the welcome.
I'm going to try Adonnis' 4 Day routine for a month to see what happens. I really like the idea of doing different types of workout to affect different types of muscle fibers.
I'll be starting tomorrow and I'll try to chime in somewhere with some idea of my progress for the elucidation of all.
Man can will nothing unless he has first understood that he must count on no one but himself; that he is alone, abandoned on earth in the midst of his infinite responsibilities, without help, with no other aim than the one he sets himself, with no other destiny than the one he forges for himself on this earth.

I am a 28 yoa male from Ga. Out of shape but getting back.
I have ran and lifted off and on for about 12 years or so. Did some sports in school then to the Corps, where I got into and stayed in pretty good shape. Now I am in a job which leaves me little time and a messed up schedule. Sorta gotten a descent training schedule going. I think I will like it. I am one of those outdoors types, love to fish, bu tpretty much all outdoors stuff like hiking and such. Anyway, any good info on PT for a limited amount of time to work with is very welcome.

Hey all! I've been lurking here for about a week and thought I'd finally say Hi. Been lifting seriously for about 3 years (not for the past 4 months though). 6'2" 240 but need to get back in the gym so I can shed some of the fat I've gained on my 4 months off.
