30 year old male. 6'1 - 198 pounds. Not in any kind of shape, just sort of there. Live near Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Been off and on for a couple of years - more off though. Married with a 9 month old son. Want to lose some weight to show of some abs, but having trouble finding time right now. Looking for a program that I can do 4 times a week, but seeing as how I have been off for a substantial period of time, I am out of the loop when it comes to new programs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. From some of the searches I have done this board seems to be the best for advice and its members.

Welcome to the Board, Cheeze!
I'd recommend this one from Adonis: Upper/Lower Body Split. I've been doing a variation of it for a couple of weeks and like it. Also, check these out: 3 Day Total Body Plan and 4 Day Total Body Plan

Thanks guys. I have another question, how long do you guys try a program before you realize it is not working for you. I am somewhat knew to the whole theroires behind weight lifting. I always just went to the gym and did the standard workout (back & bi's, Chest and tris, legs and shoulders and abs)

If you're not making gains, either in size or strength or both, it's time to switch. In any case I switch my routines at least every 8 weeks, sometimes at 6 weeks, depending on how my body feels.

I am sticking mostly to the basics squats deadlift and bench press. i have dropped my choleterol ldh (bad cho.) from 1000 to 300 since dec. Hello,I am a 28 year old male I am 5-10 and weigh about 270.I have found a new love and it is bodybuilding. My father tried to get me to work out for years just was always to lazy. Then when i turned 24 I got sick and tired of being fat and lazy. At that time I weighed about 250 got my self down to around 220 nice and lean. Then i started putting on the muscle with lots of supplements.I got my self back up to about 250 and was nice and lean. Then last year I blew my knee out playing Semi profootball last July and all I did was sit around all winter doing nothing and getting fat again, in Febuary I got the off the couch got my knee in shape and started hitting the weights real hard.I am no where near where I want to be but i will get there.
I was web surfing one day and came accross this forum and fell in love with it.I hope I will contrubute to the forum with some of the things that I have picked up over the last few years.

Welcome to all the new members. As Adonis said, if you need any help, PM us. Or start a new thread if you need exercise advise; you'll get a lot of input, most of it good.

Howdy EF folks-
Thanks for the opportunity to introduce myself in this thread. I'm not the regular bulletin-board type, so if I commit some faux pas please let me know (constructively?!)
I'm an Exercise Physiologist (are we a-dime-a-dozen yet?), a personal trainer, and a strength and performance specialist for adventure sports. My specialties are training for mountain and snow sports, and physical performance at high altitude. Personally, I'm a runner/skier/climber myself, and train hard for these to fight off premature old age.
I know my sh#t and love lively debates over the more academic topics in ex. phys; if peeples have questions related to exercise or performance theory, I'm glad to throw in my 2 cents. On that note, I've been lurking for a week or so, reading various posts from some of the more active members, and have noticed occasional content errors and poor terminology usage; as the new guy here, I'll try to be respectful of member seniority, but as soon as "gluconeogenesis" is brought up, expect to be called out if you're overreaching your scope of understanding. (We can tackle that one in a future thread )
Anyway, this seems like a great community and I look forward to participating! Thanks for reading my intro.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'm 17 and have just left school in Scotland. I'm about to go to university soon (1/2 months) and want to get into a routine before I enter. My figure is decent as it stands (height, weight etc. I will find out) I just want to keep in shape and if at all possible beef up a little.
Thanks again,
Feeney
