Welcome, Dorito Eater!
First thing I would advice is to give up the Doritos!
Secondly, try to at least find some cardio that you can do and enjoy doing. Maybe Painless would have some more specific advice considering your situation.

Which transplant did you have, the kidney, the pancreas or both? A brief synopsis of your activity and what you eat would help quite a bit as well. I will give any help I can, just give me a little recon to work with.

Thank you very much everybody
I'm done with Doritos ^_^
I had both a kidney and a pancreas transplant at the same time.
I try to swim every chance i get this summer which is not a lot yet(only 4 times thus far) and i started some stationary bike this week, that went okay but i can't do a long time.I did 5 minutes, next time i'll go for more.
As for my activities well..i don't do much. I'm always tired but i'm trying to change, but i must say it is very hard. For about 2 weeks i have been just practicing standing up straight and after ten minutes my back is killing me.Just walking hurt my knees(I think my weight is the problem there)
For food i must say i'm totally lost!I try to eat vegetables oftens.Red meat for the iron.Milk or cheese for calcium but in a book call Fit For Life(don't have the name of the author) it is written that milk is bad if you're on a diet. But i have to take something for calcium because the side effect of one of the medication i take is said that it can make you're bones weaker.
Sorry if i wrote a lot

Hey, no need to apologize for telling us your story, no matter how many words, we're pretty laid back around here, and the more information we have, the more we can help and support.
Are you currently under the care of a physician or physical therapist. With the amount of serious work you have had done I would recommend talking with your doc before you take any advice from us. A lot of the folks here are pretty knowledgable, but I think you are going to need someone with a more intimate knowledge of what you're going through to help layout the initial back into things steps.
But don't despair! We'll be here for help, support, kicks in the butt, whatever you need to keep you going. Hang in there!

That is a blood pressure issue. How long are you post op and when does the doctor say you can resume activity, or is it just activity for now with less than 5lbs? If so, nothing wrong with doing a few sets for each bodypart, in the proper alignment, using what you are allowed to use. The old addage is that it's better to do something, than nothing at all. What about cardiovascular exercise, ie swimming, recumbent bike, upper body ergometer?

Hey all, I signed up a while a ago but like duorito's Eater had some health complications (Found out I have Wison's Disease)so I was unable to participate with people on this forum.. you all seem pretty nice which is a rare thing on the internet.
Male 28 years old here and just found out how much i enjoy.. no love psychical activity’s
Durito's Eater I am sure the doctor mentioned it to you but just in case, you really should see a dietician about what you are eating I found them very helpful for me however my circumstances are different than your's, so please do no not think for a second I am telling you what to do mate.
Anyway nice to meet you all, as i have been lurking in the backgroud

Hey Dave. Welcome to EF!
Here's a link to those who are ignorant of Wilson's Disease: Wilson's Disease.
Sounds like it can be pretty severe if not kept under control. Hope all is going well with you. Why don't you share your diet and current activity with us?

Thanks Old_fart2
Yes it can be quite bad and they found mine a bit to late that what they should of so my central nervous system took a beating (mainly severe shaking of the hand and some other stuff but no need to grouse anyone out hehe) however 1 1/2 years later I am now doing really well and all i have to do now is take zinc tablet's.
Docs gave me 100% clear bill around 1 month ago so I am only just getting into the fitness side of thing's so I wont even pretend to know anything (I am an open book)
Currently I run four times a week 2 short runs at a fast rate and 2 longer runs at a medium rate, and I am doing gym three times a week I have no set program for the gym atm however, as I don’t know what I am really doing so I am just throwing the weights around.
I must say though I found the beginners guide on this forum extremely helpful with a ton in information.
Sorry if I typed to much or put in too much information for people.

DAve
Good to hear from you.
I would suggest on the all-over body workouts to get your general conditioning up. Check this thread out from yesterday: Total Body Superset.

I am new to the site, although I have "chanced" upon this site several times in the past. I am a 6 foot, 40 year old male, weight 195. I have been lifting since I was 18 - at that time I think I weighed 145 lbs. and had a 29 inch waist. I seem to lift heavy for a year or so, then get sidetracked because of illness, long vacation, etc., then abondon lifting for months to a year. I was in the best shape of my life (not buffed but a trim 185) on a vacation to Hawaii in October 2003. I did push ups, dips, sit ups, etc. on my vacation, but when I returned I did not lift - in fact did not lift until February 2005.
I have been lifting occassionally (sometimes once a week, sometimes more, sometimes once a month) from February until about six weeks ago. My son, 12, and I at that time decided we both needed to "buff up" and trim down. Since then, I have seen noticable improvements on both of us - he is starting to show some definition in his body, me, I am bigger than I ever have been. I do not feel trimmer, have not lost any weight, but have got noticably bigger and stronger.
We work out together (what a great father / son activity) 4 days a week alternating chest / back, arms / abs, legs, usually with a day's rest in between.
I enjoy this site and appreciate being a member.

Great to Hear From You, Buffer!
I can't wait until my son is old enough (and has the time) to start working out with me (he's 10 now)!

if not, welcome, Doritos Eater, to the EF community!
if i'm not mistaken, didn't you post something about eating chips, and that chips are like an addiction to you... i vaguely remember someone asking for advice. i think baked chips were recommended as a starting point...
