Venting: Weight + Scales
Fuck the scale! Damn, I hate it when I get on that damn thing - been two months since my last check-in and I just had to step on the stupid machine.
I know that weight is not a good measure of progress - especially for someone putting on some mass. But I've been doing a ton of cardio over the past 9 months in an effect to balance my desire for increased muscle mass and a decrease in body fat.
I know I've lost alot of body fat, too; all my clothes fit differently, I'm showing more cuts and people in general have made alot of great comments about how much progress I've made since I started back.
I started off by losing 14 pounds in the first 4 months, but in the past 5 month I've slowly been putting some more weight on.
Dammit, I'd have to eat like Kirsty Alley to freaking get below a number I'd like to be at. F me, I'm going to get the tape measure out and get some updates.

The scale is a very poor choice for measuring progress. But it is also one of the easiest. I prefer to go by strength. If I eat a clean diet, and know how many calories I need, then as long as my strength is increasing, I know I'm ont he right path

The scale only tells you how much force you're putting on the earth, the mirror and the bodyfat assesment tell you so much more.

i used to be fat, then i started lifting. I dont care what the scale says. As long as im looking better, people notice, and i feel better about myself. Wieght is just a number that im not concerned about. Remember, muscle weights more than fat.

I just finished posting on another thread that I recently fropped 70 pounds over a few months. I used the scale, but didn't rely on it exclusively. There were some weeks the I showed no weigh loss but my cloths fit differently and my wife was really taking notice. I chalked it up to muscle gain. Still, it's encouraging when you show a loss on the damn things, and it really serves to piss a body off when you bust your ass it it doesn't tell you what you deserve.
Painless2 hit the nail dead on. Use the mirror and bodyfat tests. You'll be better off.

the scale sucks cause muscle weighs more than fat so you look at it and you think you gained more weight
