Increasing overall fitness
Hi, Im sixteen years old and fairly fit for my age, not bulky, not fat, not skinny, but fit. Right now, Im about to start the P90X program, and push as hard as I can. It appears to be a good program and I'll continue with it after the ninety days if it works out well. Anyway, I aspire to become extremely fit, to push myself extremely far. I want to be able to do such things as the iron cross on rings, planche and inverted pushups on the ground Im about 5'10" and 135lbs. I would like to purchase some rings and mount them in order to train for these things. What other great displays of fitness are there? I wont need the information for a little while yet, as Im just starting P90X, but what should I start to do in order to reach my goals? Would it benefit me to ring train as well as the current program, or would I be overtraining? Any help is welcome. Thanks

Try One-Armed Pull-Ups. They're a killer.

One-armed pulls, or - the hardest thing to do in the gym.
I started training for them in May, and hope to be able to do them both leftie and rightie by next May.
Can Insex do them? I'm working on the theory that I want to do weighted pullups (two handed) with half my bodyweight for 5 reps before I make the jump to one hand. Brutal training, with a high risk for tendonitis. But fun.
But the others are great to break out in the gym - handstand pushups instead of a military press is always a good way to screw around, and planches are great. I haven't tried an iron cross since I've had the muscle mass to support it, so I have no idea there.
How about muscle-ups on the pull-up bar? Once you're up there, it's fun to knock out some dips.

Okay so that all sounds good, but does P90X sound like a good starting point? I need to build some mass in order to sustain the iron cross and such, so Ill be going for low reps, with higher weights, and a high protein diet, any other suggestions?

still no thoughts? just as a starting point im about 5'9" and 135lbs, my bench is pretty low, about 130-135, I can curl 50 and rep 60's in rows. Im pretty strong but my arms and lats far surpass my chest. As the starting point of P90X I made 45 pushups in one go and about ten pullups.
