Beach-Bum Shape
Hi all,
Right, booked a last minute holiday for 1st june and want to try and get in shape abit for it.
I havent been on this site in a very long time but when i thought i wonder what i can do in 15 days, this was the place that popped up in my head.
So i'm looking for some training, diet (as in health not starving myself) and any other tips and advice. I know there are a lot of knowledgeable (sp) people on this section, remember the likes of adonis and some bee man, and wondering if anyone is able to help me out abit.
I'm 19 and a short-a*se at 5'7" and i am also in the middle of university exams so i can only afford a couple hours a day excercise wise... which is obviously going to make it tougher
I'm not a stranger to the gym, like a good row and then some weights, but yesterday was my first visit in a few months. Looking to get in there everyday up till the hol. I have some York muscle protein or whatever name it is and will be using that (unless told otherwise!)
I was thinking along the lines of good breakfast and lunch, gym in the evening with a shake and a banana or something for afterwards as dinner
so basically wondering what foods i should be eating and when - as i want to build abit more muscle and burn abit of the gut off and generally tone up abit, what training regime would be ideal for my situation and any other tips and tricks.
So far i had a couple hours in the gym last night then shake and veg + prawn stir fry and cranberry juice, got up this morning for a few k run with abit of walking in between because i'm not a massive fan of running, and had a tuna and tomato sandwich and more cranberry (i heard it was good)
Wow this is a long post, so i do apologise, but i'm sure this is the place to get some proper advice or direction
cheers guys,
Draper

also as a sub note
i was in the gym with a friend yesterday, and for an example we were doing seated bicep curls to get the full range of motion
now i was taking them slow, not letting gravity do the work on the way down, and you could tell because my biceps were tiring much quicker than my friends who was letting them drop pretty fast
my ethos is, if it's feeling tough, you're doing it right, i.e. i never let gravity take the load down, and you can feel you're doing twice the work as just the power stroke alone
but... am i correct in doing so?

you aint gonna loose weight doing biceps curls...
If those exams of yours are important, I suggest you drop the training and make do with your looks till your holidays. There are a few things in life more important than 'looks on holidays'.
Because within 15 days, and a couple hours biceps curls, you gonna improve fuck all, might as well put the time to good use instead of wasting it in the gym
For fast results, search 'the velocity diet', it's the only one that werk, and you aint likely to survive it for 15 days while doing exams.

It doesn't sound like being in the gym is very important to you, but rather looking good when I counts is.
I dont blame you, school is a priority, but do not let yoursel become one of THOSE people. The gy who doesnt work out all year long, says hell start jan 1st and have a six pack by summer.. Quits in two weeks and says screw it, ill do it next year!
It took you much longer than 15 days to put on some of that extra weight, so don't lan to lose it in such a quick amount of time.
Also, crash dieting is a bad idea so don't plan to go down that course. Maybe with a prayer you'd lose 10lbs, but much of the weight would be muscle mass, probably more than fat and your body fat would just be higher by the 15th day making things worse.

sorry to also burst your bubble, but 15 days! you cant accomplish much in that timeframe, maybe with a little cut stack 250, and winny of forbbs from the A.S. department. thats the only way i see any results in that kind of timeframe.

yeah i know its a bit daft like, but i was just wondering whether you can do anything
joebar and atrain, i appreciate that there is a good few idiots around, but i used to go to the gym quite regularly but fell out of it a couple months ago. Was just looking for some advice, like i was only thinking a few pound anyway, was jsut intrigued. and the curls was a question asking whether thats a good technique to use, or whether my own theory is pants
thanks for the replies

most you can do its pour on the cardio and hit the weights and cut calories and cut carbs out at night time. run in the morning b4 breakfast then eat afterwards. just diet and plenty of excercise you can prob drop 2 to 5 pounds if done properly.

thanks wildstang, knew it was abit of a pipedream, but hopefully it'll get me back into training again
like my gym visit and run, i felt real good after it (a tad tight but good) which made me generally in a better mood for the day, made me wonder why i started being such a lazy a*rse recently. and if i'm feeling better thats the main thing really i think.

Nothing much really. Sorry to lay it like that, but it's the true. Whether you have a couple of hours a week or not, that's not much of an issue. There are single parents out there getting serious results, so it's up to the individual and about how intelligently they train.
If you are interested in learning how to train long term and make it a part of your life, get the book linked in my signature.
For short-term goals (15 days?), sorry bro, can't help there.

in 15 days one can only lost up to max 5 pounds if done healthily, plus maybe 1 or 2 pound of ecxess water weight and thats provided its 15 days of clean dieting (lots of water, low sodium, whole grains and lean protein and minimal healthy fats), u can also sweat more (through cardio) to get rid of the excess water weight.
But like the rest have pointed out, concentrate on ur exam first, a few pounds wouldnt really make u look ripped unless u are pretty lean to begin with

thats true
like in photoshoots or movie shots
they always pump some weights right before shooting
and the original poster sounds like my brother
i dont get why people wait till a couple weeks before summer to start training
thinking it'll be instant
i started my training in jan 08 and haven't reached my goal yet.
it takes time man with trial and error and you have to be consistent.
my advice has already been said by another member
so good luck dude.
