if a person with a bit of a stomach who is overweight and just wants to lean up a bit and get down to 15% BF, well rice, pasta and that sort of stuff is fine in small portions. Because like in your instance when you were 70 pounds overweight you were probably eating all sorts of a junk 2 get so overweight. So eating carbs and protein was fine, cos u probably came from a diet of macdonalds and all sorts of junk. To get 2 a really low BF u dont touch complex carbs (rice, pasta white bread etc.) at all.
I have competed nationally in bodybuilding so while I agree that you have to cut a large portion of calories to get to that lean level, it does not require that you cut out all things except oats and spinach, not sure where you came up with those two. I ate rice, in ever decreasing quantities mind you, all the way up until the last week, and still had veins in my abs. It's about type and most importantly, the amount that you eat. A hypocaloric diet of any type will mkae you lose weight. For the record, I didn't get fat eating all kinds of junk, just that I over ate coommensurate with my activity level at that point.

But for those of you that can't bear even the thought of that. You can try cooking it with skim milk. Then add cinnamon ( which also is proven to stabilize blood sugar levels) add a few slivered almonds, a little no sugar fruit jam and you are off to the races!

Also what i really like is peanut butter flavoured protein powder added right into it and a little skim milk and it really tastes like a treat.

hope that helps the oatmeal haters

I do similarly, when macros allow: cooked oatmeal + 1tbsp of natty crunchy peanut butter a scoop of chocolate whey protein and a 1/4tsp of cinnamon. Sometimes I'll lightly drizzle a sugar free maple like syrop on it too.....for all you Reeses Peanut Butter Cup fans!!!

when you say cutting carbs what are you cutting, what carbs do you eat, how much doyou intake vs cut?
I would cycle around 100gm per day for 2-3 days then a 250 day......this is moderate and leaning but answer my first questions.....
