Low Testosterone
Does anyone here have experience with low testosterone levels.
I was having some health problems and my doctor did some blood tests, today the nurse called and told me my testosterone levels were abnormally low and I should schedule an appointment with my doctor asap.
The weird thing is.. when I went to the doctor he asked me if I have been experimenting with testosterone injections, come to find out.. they're pretty damn low.. He then asked me have I ever had my levels checked, I said yes and explained to him that I think the doctor who checked them last time may have lied to me because he suspected the same thing about me taking steroids.. I asked him to look up my history and he proved me right.. the doctor who took them before kind of sugar coated it. They were low, but not TOO low..On a scale from 200-900 which I guess thats the normal ranges, it was a 300 and he said thats a little on the low side. This time he ordered more tests and like I said, the nurse called and said they are pretty darn low.
What can I expect to happen from here on out... and no I haven't experimented with steroid use in the past. Will this effect my fertility? will I be able to have kids?

Your T level does not necessarily mean that you have low sperm count. If you have concerns, you could have your sperm count checked. They'll also want to check the sperm motility or their swimming ability.

I had the same problem, my testosterone levels were in the low 200's, which sucks cause thats still in the norm, but you can get a C- on a test and have it be in the norm, but you still want that A you know? Either way, it could just be right now your testosterone levels are low, they sometimes tend to do that and will go back up eventually. But get some more tests done to know for sure.

I'm 19.
It's just weird because I hear that people who work out should have higher testosterone levels and I'm in the gym going heavy 5 times a week and I can't even hit the normal range.
Also, I've had them tested twice. This is the 2nd time in about 6 months so I don't think its just a temporary thing. Plus I've been experiencing a lot of problems that point to low testosterone that a 19 y/o shouldn't be having.

Try taking tribulus the supplement, it helps release the bodies own test. For your age u should have good test production
You are probably 2 young 4 test replacement therapy (basically taking steroids)
Try tribulus, see if that helps look at this link Tribulus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Test levels vary throughout the day, so a low reading isn't the end of the world. Also, heavy training (overtraining) can lead to lowered levels, so you may be doing too much work (may be). Other things to consider may be your diet -- those diets that are considered "healthy" are generally fairly low fat and low cholesterol, while test is made from cholesterol. So those diets really aren't that good for people, let alone already-healthy people.
But I honestly wouldn't worry about it -- 300 is within the regular range. While you may wish it was higher, that doesn't really mean that it should be higher. Make sure you get your sleep, eat properly, and don't overtrain, and test it again after whatever time your MD (or someone who's up to date on this stuff) says (probably on the order of several months). And I think the tests need to be sampled at several times during the day to give an average reading. But 300 really doesn't even mean that putting on muscle will be more difficult, or that you'll be less "manly." Your body has tries to exist in a balanced state, and levels vary between people. Just b/c a reading is on the low end or high end doesn't necessarily mean that some type of intervention is in order.
Good luck, keep us posted.

My brother was experiencing all sorts of problems. After seeing many specialists, it was determined that he had the T-levels of a 15 year old girl! No shit.
The doctors prescribed him "AndroGel" which is is a daily testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) that can bring your T levels back to normal and keep them there. He swears that the benefits where almost instantaneous. It was like night and day for him. That's what was missing. He was tired, sluggish and almost in a state of depression.
The treatments work wonders for him, now he says he feels great, has all kinds of energy and gets wood like a baby's forearm. LOL.
Imagine, from T-levels of a 15 year old girl to "boner" levels of a 15 year old boy over night! LMFAO. That can't be bad for making babies.

I think I remember your previous thread about this issue, theatrain.
It is not normal for a man your age to experience low testosterone levels. Typically, testosterone levels for men your age are at their lifetime peak. Therefore, your doctor may put you on hormone replacement therapy. Basically, it's the legal way of acquiring steroids.
Hormone imbalances are real health issues. Therefore, they require real treatments (usually in the form of hormone replacement therapy). This is the reason why steroids exist, to treat people who have the same condition as you.
However, your situation is different from most others because low testosterone levels are usually found in older men.

as pliny had suggested about your diet. id look at that more closely and check what types of food your eating and types of cholesterol they contain. eggs 4 instance have gotten a bad rap back in the day about the cholesterol levels of the yolk, so many people skip the yolk and the good cholesterol it gives. this is just an example i used about the eggs, and with further diet adjusting you can bring up your levels naturally. for you if you use any supp with soy or eat any soy products i would lean away from consuming it. soy has been proven to suppress natural test levels in the lab.

Man, 19 is waaaaay too young for someone to experience low test levels or to play with testosterone-enhancing products. I'd look at the diet as suggested hear.
What are the other health conditions that necessitated your visit to the doc in the first place (if you don't mind my asking.)? It could be poor health that is affecting your test levels.

hey train,i thought i'd chime in here.i'm 40 a dedicated gym rat, test levels were taken5 weeks ago and came in at 130.i have recently been switched to androgel from twice monthly test cyp injections and what a difference !19 is young for that level.you must go see a urologist.and spermlevels have nothing to do with test.a point of fact when you use exo test it lowers your count, your doc will ask you if kids are a priority. good luck.

My diet right now looks like this
breakfast - oatmeal and 3 wholeeggs (if no time for eggs whey protein shake)
a.m snack - fruit, protein bar, peanuts or trail mix. something small
lunch - sandwich, peanut butter or turkey.. always on 100% whole wheat with a peice of fruit like an orange or bannana
about an hour or so before my workout i have something small.. w.e is left over of my lunch if i packed extra or a whey shake.
right after my workout I have a whey shake and a fast acting carb
when i get home i make 2-3 peice of chicken breast, baked potatoe or brown rice and i split all of this food up into two meals i eat most of it for my dinner then finish the rest off about 2-3 hours later.
I drink a glass or two of milk once in a while and i have fruits and veggies scattered throughout my day.
I don't think at 19 there is any reason for this. Especially for me, I give it my all in the gym and get lots of sleep. Most people my age are eating fast food like its going out of style and never see the gym and they dont have these problems.
also, toro. You said im too young to be taking test-enhancing products. Well right now my test levels should be in their prime and i can barley cut it at the bottom of the "average" scale. Where will that leave me when I'm 40 if its not fixed now? I'll probably be in jovian shoes by then.

you mentioned you experienced problems...........all the time, or just started recently like 4 instance withen a months time frame? any drastic changes in the diet withen timeframe?
diet sounds clean but lacking in my opinion. in your quest to control fat gain you may be depriving your body of fuel to nourish the whole body other then just your torn muscles from the gym. before you cleaned up your diet and got really serious about lifting i will assume you didnt have this problem back then when your diet was dirty.
for a growing young man with moderate activity you should be consuming more food i think.

I've had the problem for a long while. I was just so used to it before I thought this was the way things were supposed to be.
Lets just say my sex life matches my testosterone levels. Its on the "normal" meter, but its damn near the bottom of that meter. My girlfriend doesn't even notice the issue, everything is good for her, but on my part i know things should be .. harder and as time goes on its gettin worse and worse.
It was like this before i was serious about lifting but back then I wasn't as sexually active and I didn't notice that this wasn't right.
What would u reccomend I add to my diet?
Also, the additional test results came in. Free Testosterone was at an 11.5, normal range 12.5 - 40 they said.
