Hi again!
I'm just going to pass this by you lot. I know you're all likely going to hound me to go see a doctor, and I am, but I need to try and settle my mind a bit about it all in the mean time.
Basically, I'm now lifting two to three times a week, cycling to and from the gym (racing the traffic sometimes), and doing thumping (boxercise/boxing style training) one to two times a week too.
My general fitness has shot up now.
However as my fitness increases, so do the palpitations or heart "flutters" I sometimes get. It now is happening a few times a week. I'm not sure if it's because I'm training too hard on some days or what, but like this evening I had a flutter about twenty minutes after my meal and my heart rate has remained at 90bpm (although gradually settling down again). It's normally 50-60bpm and tends to stay around 40-50bpm at rest in bed.
It's incredibly alarming, particularly given I'm merely 19 too.
However after mentioning it to my father, it turns out he experienced the same things when he was a lot fitter than he was now. He used to ride in motorcross competitively, and cycled a fair bit on and off over the years too. Whenever his fitness got good to very good, he began to experience what I am.
A few months back he got himself checked as he wasn't sure if he had a heart attack at work, but all checked out fine and nothing was wrong. A number of years back I had a heart check because my mother was paranoid about me developing Marfans Syndrome. My heart checked out fine then too, and I'll be surprised if any valve or heart problems will develop in a space of 5 years at such a young age!
So what are people's thoughts on what it could be?
Oh, I've also learnt when I think I have low blood pressure as my pulse gets weaker but increases to 80-90bpm and I generally can feel a bit tired.
It's horrible. Feels like I can't
be as fit as I can without these stupid complications.
