Best workout magazine
What magazine has the best workouts? I mean which of the popular fitness mags, actually give you the best/most workout content and knowledge? I am thinking about subscribing to one. I was thinking about Mens Fitness, Muscle and Fitness, Ironman, and Flex.

None of them. The best thing to do is talk to other people in your gym, visit sites like this and other forums and chose for yourself.
There's only so many exercises you can use for each body part and so many exercise routines. The magazines simply re-hash those each month.

I would reccomend going out and buying something like Bill Pearl's Getting Stronger My brothers bought this book when it first came out and i still use it for exercise ideas from time to time. It has programs and just about every exercise you can think of. Alot of useful information such as bodybuilding and strength training is in this book as well. This is the revised edition so i don't know what the difference is with unrevised. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...books&n=507846

Good call, Acute. There's a lot of good books out there. I had forgotten about books (too old school).

Today's magazines are paper machines designed to sell supplements, and promote bikini babes (not that there's anything wrong with that.) They are full of recycled routines with new pictures, and ghost written articles. I'm one that wishes there was one that was like some of the old time mags. I learned alot from those.
The only real value is if you want the pictures of steroid users and fitness competitors.

I am a Mens Fitness subscriber, and I really enjoy their magazines, for these reasons:
1). They tell you healthy diet plans on the go (they actually find healthy things to eat at fast food restaurants)
2). Supeb workout plans, my favorite was their "Beach Body Plan," where they told you exactly what to do for 3 months to get you into a beach body. It had four parts, a bulking phase where you bulk up for the first two months, than a cutting phase, than there's a "shredded in seven" where you drink retain gallons of and more salt than usual, than fast off of it to get that shredded look.
3). A new ab plan every month.
A really enjoy their magazine, they make it very easy to stay in shape and eat right,

i got muscle and fitness sub for christmas(2 year subscription) but its good to read IMO but i use the dieting, recipes, and just read success storys in it, but i dont really follow routines csaeu thats something you gotta research mroe into than just doing what ronnie coleman is advertising to do. also one book i wouold recommend getting is the arnold swarchnegger encyclopidia. really good book with alot of exercises and routines and diet tips.

Mags are good eye candy, and starting fires .. acutekitten is on the money, though it's your money you should be thinking about, so here's my 2 cents worth .... for more pounce to the once, get Bill Pearl's Getting Stronger.
And never discount the value of talking to club members, just make sure their finished their workout first, don't trying to talk to them in the middle of a work out i hate that.
Sincerely & Respectfully
Sgt. Z.R.

Im not keen on the fitness mags either, i do believe they are very biased and generally full of supplement adverts anyways as they are sponsored by a lot of the supplement manufacturers.
You just cant trade the info you get off a seasoned site like this for example with a fitness mag. My opinion obviously, but you cant keep asking a mag questions should you not understand something, besides theres always something so manufactured about them mags. Like all the guys and the gals in them are all so so perfect - where are all the real people! lol

For me... the least evil is 'Ironman'. Bill Starr's monthly is definitely a selling point.
