Well Powerhouse, gonna wish you good luck at the powerlift competition. Just wondering though, seeing that you know you have like only a month to lose 25 lbs, don't you feel you are risking it trying to compete in such a lower weight class? What is wrong with you competing in your current weight class? Just hope while you lose this weight fast and trying to lift heavy as you did you won't end up hurting yourself, so good luck and be careful.

No squat? Too bad. If you're still close to that 715 you would clean up. If you haven't dropped the majority of that 25 by the end of February, don't bother with the rest. Losing too much too close to a comp will leave you weak and open to injury. Good luck!

Thank you all. Im just cleaning up my diet and doing cardio, if I dont think i'll make it then no biggy. The problem with me competing in the higher weight classes is that there obviously bigger/stronger and my numbers might not hold up against theres my bench for damn sure wont. And for the bench for reps you have to be benching atleast your bodyweight so it would be nice to lose as much weight as possibe without hurting myself or my performance at the meet.
Most of the people in our powerlifting gym is going up there to compete, so it will be nice to have them cheer me on. It will be nice to see what i'll be able to do.. hopefully i can make some new PR's and will keep yal posted on it.

Today I worked on Bench, put more weight on the bar this time and did more singles and doubles. But after my bench, I saw 3 or 4 other members of my gym doing bench with there tripple poly bench shirt. So I go over there and make fun of them a bit, and they tell me to try and do bench with it. After about 10 mins of me squeezing into this sum of a bitch, I get down and try to do 315 first of all the technique is SO much different, well anywho the weight cant even touch my chest, I sit there for 5 secs trying to pull this to me and I cant. So I lift it up, again the lift is so much different then im use to, and I take it off, and precede to keep making fun of them.
I dont understand all this equipment, I meen its getting out of control.

When I did my one and only powerlifting meet in 1988, it was the first time I had seen or even heard of, bench shirts. I thought it was funny as hell, all these guys walking around with their arms straight out in front of them because they couldn't put them down.
Of course, I was using a suit (and wraps and belt) in the meet so the bench shirt is really just one notch above that. I still train with a belt, although I don't wrap until I get to 405 in squats,

I train with a belt now that im gettin closer to a meet. I dont want to chance getting hurt so close to a meet. Wraps aren't so bad, I just look at all the suits they have, it really is getting out of control.

Well the time has come my friends... tonight I leave up there. I will post how it goes either tomorrow or sunday. I am feeling good, no injuries, no sickness, just hope everything goes well tomorrow. About 8 or 9 guys from my gym are competing so we are all going up there together so that will be nice to have them motivating you. All this time in the gym comes down to tomorrow so wish me luck ladies.

Ok im back ladies and gentlemen after that long ass drive. All and all the event was good, it was a full event and a lot of people competed which was nice. Met some freakishly strong people, and really tried to absorb as much advice they were giving me, went to eat with some of them after the competition which was a event in itself.
Ok well the first event was bench press, so after gettin pumped up I go do my first lift of 415. Went up easily, no hesitation just wanted to get on the board. After seeing what the other competitors were putting up on there first and 2nd lift I knew I had to put up a bigger number, so I went for 435. I have done this in the gym no problem, so I wait to hear the judge tell me to unrack it, and press it up again I didn't have really any sticking point it went up pretty smoothly, the lift was solid all the way through. Well one of my competitors on their 3rd lift put up 475, so I have to try to atleast get 450. I go for 450 because I knew I had to save as much energy to do the bench for reps and I would be damn happy with 450. Couldn't get it almost broke my hand punching the bench. So I was in 6th in bench at that point with one more lifter who was going for 440 just to beat me and get to 6th place and knock me down to 7th, but luckily for me he was disqualified for improper form. So I came in 6th in bench, i'll take what I can get, right?
2nd event was deadlifts. My deadlifts are my strong point so I love them. First lift I pulled 660, again just to get a good number down for my first lift. 2nd lift I got 675, really had to fight that seemed like it took 5 mins for me to lockout. Ripped a huge chuck of skin off of my hand, no biggy that happens with deadlifts. Chalked up, got myself pumped I already knew I wasn't going to come in first because a guy named Maurice pulled 715 already, and that is way better then any gym lift I have ever done, so I get to the platform waiting for the judge to tell me to lift my 3rd lift of 680, and when I get this locked out which seemed easier then my last lift, there is a huge freaking strain on my left bicep. Head judge yells "good lift" I drop the weight and go ice my arm down. It isn't anything to serious just could be a minor tear if even that, most likely its just a bad sprain.
Bench for reps was the third event. You have to be doing atleast your BW and you can only choose a certain amount that they had listed under the rules. So since I weigh 270, I had the choice to do 275, 295, 315, 365, 385, or 405. Its not like I can do 270 since thats how much I weigh, that was my impression that I could just do 270 but figured out quickly I couldn't. I was one of the last people to go which was nice, a few guys were doing 315 for 20 reps which was kind of scary thank god they were the super heavys and 10+ years older then me and not in my division. Well I managed to get 275 for 17 reps, all of them were lockout with no pause at the bottom, but the judge did have to tell you when you could go down again. The last 2 reps was mental, it burned, it sucked, I couldn't breath but it was one of those things like "Do you really want to push this up? Then fucking do it!"
Like I said when I made this thread, this is my last PL competition for awhile and my last one in the teens division. So I just really tried to take in everything around me and talk to everyone there. Some of the older lifters were watching me and one shook my hand and was just like "damn" so that always makes you feel good and motivated that someone else is impressed by you. I came in 4th all around cant be disipointed about that.
