I had insomnia last night and ran across tons of bodybuilding video clips. It made me miss the days of fewer steroids.

Amen, bro! At times I think today it is more of a pharmaceutical event than bodybuilding. I mean these guys have guys (trainers) who are basically pharmacists. They need to be to keep all those roids straight! It's just a sad reminder of what can go wrong when someone dies! Sergio, Arnold, Franco, et al used drugs, but they did not go to the severe extremes we see today.

Oh, BTW, I like the part of the vid (~ 2:32 in) where Sergio hits that vacuum pose (side view). How many guys even do that any more or could get away with it?

It was real fun to click on the related videos too. Franco, Arnold, Zane. Talk about a stomach vacuum! Then there was Jessup Wilcoz. Not a mass monster, but no weak points and looked as if he was carved out of marble. I always thought that Ed Corney was the best poser, but then I watched a vid of Mohamed Makaway (sp?) This guy was sharp, and dead on.

To me, the 1960s and 1970s will always be the golden era of bodybuilding; where legends like Sergio, Arnold, Franco, Frank Zane, and many others once took the bodybuilding stage and showed the world what any man with dedication and discipline could achieve.

Much like how the 1960s and 1970s were the golden era of football, when the game of football was played by a bunch of men who loved football, rather than a bunch of gifted athletes who are pissy about their excessive million-dollar contracts.

now that's what i call a v- taper!!incredible arm thickness.i wonder what would have happened if he stayed with the ifbb instead of nabba.maybe he'd be the terminator!
