I've been using Canon since I went digital: I got the SD 700 w/ optical image stabilization and 4x zoom earlier this summer, and it's my best yet: a little out of your stated range at $430 @amazon, but I'm sure that Canon makes something at the #350 price point. I also like the ultra-slim ones from Sony and the like, but have only used friends' models.

And once you get to 5 (or even 4) MP, you can effectively ignore them: the optics are more important that the sensor in that range.

tnxforyourhelp.....

What is the price range you are looking for? I shoot with Nikon and love it! The D70 is their good low - mid range camera and you can now pick it up for around $1200....but for the $350 range I would go with a sony point and shoot.....

im not looking to spend over 500$ since its my first camera and the more complicated it is the worse off i will be.i went into futureshop last night and they have some sales on.the one i was looking at was a 6 MP cannon with a 2.5 display (sorry dont know the model number) and that sale comes with a dock printer and is under 500$.what do you guys think?out of all the flyers i looked through that was the best sale but dont want to get a bad camera just since its on sale.

i know cannons are supposed to be good.am i being dumb narrowing it down just because it has a printer that comes with it?how much do you guys use your printer if you have one?

6 MP shots can be blown up to something like 8.5x11 w/o becoming pixelated, so they're more than enough: I think that anything over 4 MP considered good enough for point-and-shooters.

I've got the Canon CP-220 photo printer. It prints out a 4x6 dye-sublimanted picture - looks as good as anything I ever got developed, but I'll be honest with you: I've used it once in the last year, and that was when I needed a passport sized photo after the UPS store had closed. I think it's cool, but kinda worthless.

You might want to read reviews at cnet or amazon to see if the camera's what you're looking for.

You probably don't need anything more than a 3.2 MP camera.

My first digital about 4 years ago was an olympus c320, I bought it because it had 10x lense zoom and 3x digital zoom. I still use it for vacations but I currenly, own the Nikon d70.

This olympus can be had for under 300.

most of these photos were taken with the olympus, check out the photos.
