Train Pics
I have taken the new camera out and come up with some pics. I am brand new to this and know that I need work, but I haven't ever taken "artistic" photos before in my life. This is my first attempt. I have posted these on another board, so if any of you have seen them before please go easy on me. For the rest of you, I guess you can fire away. I am still learning how to use this camera (Nikon D80) and am really enjoying it.

Gman, that is a cool pic. I like the different angles and gears and the contrasting shapes. It looks good.
I always like it when they have a date on them like that. It lets you know just how old it is. I am going to have to see if the one in the back of my office has any dates on it. I know it isn't as old as the one in your pic, but it has been parked out there for several decades.

Thank you for this nice little stroll, gentlemen.
My grandfather was the first to break tradition. Before him, our family had a long history of conductors.

Here's some of mine, though the quality is not up to par with our pro photographers here!
French TGV (Very Fast Train) at the Gare de Lyon, Paris, France:
The Eurostar (Paris-London via Channel Tunnel) at the Gare du Nord, Paris, France
The 'Highest Train in Europe' at the Pourtalet, Pyrenees, France
Train for the visit of the Grottes de Betharam, Pyrenees, France

I read a little on the net and just went out and started shooting until I thought they looked about right. I would like to take some formal classes, but don't have the time. I have been doing a lot of reading since I took those pics and have really learned a lot. Plus I have contacted a couple of the professional photographers in our area and tagged along on photoshoots to observe how they shoot models. That has helped a lot as well as looking at every picture I see with a more technical eye now. Pretty much I take a lot of pics and try to figure out how I did the ones that came out good.
Thanks for the compliment.
