My 1000th Post! - Show Us Your Iron Dungeons plz!!
1000 posts? That's what it says......I've been here not even a year yet, lol!! What can I say? Apparently I've been saying lots I've been contemplating this post for a bit now, knowing that it was coming up. I didn't feel like writing some profound essay to bore you all to tears with about the days in the life of Ol' Lizzyb. So I decided that it might be alot of fun to make a thread in here. For those of us who train at home, it's a very personal experience. We've set ourselves up according to our OWN needs. We don't need to stand in line, wipe off another's sweat or listen to silly grunting noises......being a lady, I get to sidestep the whole meat market mentality that can sometimes go on at commercial gyms. Mind you, I get to sidestep to rugrats and their toys, but that's a different story
So without further ado, let me first say THANKS to all you who read my ramblings, and give me reaon to read and reply to yours!! And please, even if you don't train at home and have pics to share where you are sweatin' it out, feel free!!

Oh and the drumset? It's where I do my mental workouts, lol!!

Nice! I trained at home in the past and enjoy the freedom but all my equipment is stored in the garage and on the patio. My wife wont let me train at home and I refuse to get rid of the equipment. Congratis on 1000 th!

Lizzy, first, congrats on the 1000th post. You have quickly become one of the elite EFers! You have offered great information and inspiration to many of us already. Keep it up!
I don't workout at home, but if I did, I'd put a pad down or I'd crack that tile flooring in those pics!

Nice setup Lizzy! But it's too bright to be classified a dungeon.
I posted some pics of my own home gym a while back. I'll see if I can find them and repost them in this thread.
Congrats on 1000

Thanks toonces!! It's actually just linoleum flooring laid straight on the concrete, but yeah....I've put a couple of dents in the concrete too.

wow... surprised how easily I found this old post...
I hope the images work...
2 wide-angle shots of the members' only area...
^^-- don't worry... nobody has missed the bag and punched the pole... YET
^^-- also in this shot is the cardio area where members can participate in a spin class
Here's a close up of the all-purpose bench and pressing area...
And lastly... here is our squat rack with variable resistance pulley system...

Lol!! What I didn't include in those shots were the center of the basement, which looks like a cyclone came in and barfed ToysRUs right in the center of my working space!!

I love this thread idea, you and Wil have some pretty nice setups
What's nice with yours is that inbetween sets you can just sit down for a minute or two... or 30 and play with the toys on the floor
And congrats on your 1000th post! Damn, I've been here for over 3 years and I'm still far from the four digits :S

bluebird: I remember living in a 1bdrm apt, that should have been a studio it was soo small. I had a manual treadmill, a stairstepper and *gasp* 2lb's -5lb d.b's.........oh I recall when I bought the 5lb'ers feeling like such a heavyweight...badass, lol!! That's when I ddi hours and hours of cardio....I had big hair too, lol!! When I left that apartment, I joined a proper gym, and became a rat, lol! I sold my stepper to a co-worker for a year's worth of his wife's prized chili (man, she could cook! And they were clean eaters as well). I sold my treaddie to him as well for a couple of hundred.
My Hoist stuff I bought brand new (benches and cable machine), same for my elliptical.
I bought my treaddie at a garage sale for like $90 from a senior citizen...it was old, but not very worn at all...felt like I stole it from him for that price. Same with my recumbant....got it and my Smith off of a local on-line want-ads.....made some good deals that way.....Highly recommend searching want ads for alot of fitness stuff....e-bay's o.k, but still can get ripped off in price there......I like to haggle a bit, more fun!!

Lizzy, I love finding stuff at yard/garage sales. I got my heavy bag and practically all the standard bars and plates I use for dumbbells at yard sales over the years. And I have found some great deals on craigslist too... I got my squat rack w/pulldown, a full 300 lb olympic weight set, and my recumbant bike through some craiglist purchases.
Bargain hunting kicks butt!!!

Yes... it is an 80 lb heavy bag (or it might be 100) and all the chains... it only cost me $20.
And Toonces... you're right... I got an old-old-old school solid iron arm blaster for 25 cents. That was funny... this was a community sale so we were walking from house to house and people were asking me "What is that thing?"

Clark Howard would be proud of you, Wil! I wish I could take some pics of my gym. They have some great newer equipment but they also have some machines that look like they've been salvaged from a dungeon. They were probably being used for the last 40 years but they still work like a charm!
