Stop the violence
The world has entered an era of violence. I fear a new world war is near. We can help change the things. So speak out today.

"Nonviolence is the answer to the crucial political and moral questions of our time;
the need for mankind to overcome oppression and violence without resorting to
oppression and violence. Mankind must evolve for all human conflict a method
which rejects revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a
method is love."

Iraqi pilot is flying with Mig29. Suddenly he sees enemy fighter coming at him. He quickly opens "Tutorial for flight combat" and finds the chapter "fight with a single enemy plane". "Hit button 1" says tutorial. he presses button 1, a rocket fires, hits the fighter. "Allha akbar" thinks the pilot. Then he sees 2 fighters, looks at next chapter. It says "hit button 2". he presses button 2, 2 rockets fire& hit fighters. "Allah akbar, allah akbar". Then he sees 12 enemy fighters. With shaking hands he lists through the tutorial, last sheet label is "fight with even more fighters", and the text is "press button 3". He presses button 3. The backwall of the cabin opens, a russian pilot comes from there. "Get up!" he says. "I'm taking control from here"

In some form or another, the world has been in a perptual era of violence; this is nothing new. Remember the Cuban Missile Crisis? The Opium Wars? Even the wanton destruction of Troy? But you are right, emreka. We really do need to speak up. Many have already done so; note that the last attempt to expand the patriot act hit the proverbial toilet. Don't forget, too, that popular opinion, both in and out of the legislature, is rapidly turning against Bush and others who have supported war. People are speaking out; we have only to join them and make our voice ever stronger for doing so. In this way, we might quickly bring to an end yet another bloody chapter in world history. There is still hope.

It always applies. I agree that it has the impression of a tired yuppy cliche, but it has only become so because no one has yet found a better way to phrase it. Think about the arguments you have had with your brother, sister, mother, father, girlfriend, etc. How many times have they had their genesis as a result of simple miscommunication; saying one word by accident when you actually meant to say another? Every war in world history has simply been an macro-scale extension of the same reasons that you quarrel with your loved ones.
Aside from greed, the major flaw of humanity is our failure to listen to each other. Freedom of speech is a privilige, and so, too, is freedom of listening. So long as we are willing to listen as much as we speak, then hope exists, and we are therefore obligated to give peace a chance. I am making my career as a negotiator for this very reason.

lol, yes, my family had much to do with my decision to become a negotiator. Everyone in my family (myself included) seems to think that they know everything, and so we often argue. I do my best to be able to provide everyone with other viewpoints, so that they might be able to find a common foundation, and I might be able to have a quiet meal.
cheers to family....

Violenece is only one mans excuse to harm another man. If only the world could solve it's issues with words then weapons.

Its good to read that you guys have hope for this world, but who here seriously thinks that it will ever change. As long as the world is spinning there will be something going on, its a sad thing to think about, but there will never be world peace. We can, however, change the horror that is going on right now, with this war. I know the owners of the country don't want that, but if enough people gather up and speak against it Republicans and Democrats alike this war will not have a happy ending, no matter which side 'wins'. The question is, can we gather as people not different polictial parties, not different races, not different sexes, but can we all come together and speak up on this. I mean how far does this have to go before people can actually see what is really happening. I bet if this was televised similar to Vietnam, it will be over quickly. Sad to say, but unless most people see it on TV, or unless someone they know is hurt or killed, they dont really grasp how close to home this whole situation is. Its easy to support the troops, but not enough are out there actively trying to stop this war, which is the best way to support the troops. I know people are saying Im only one person, but if you gather enough people and they gather enough people and so on and so forth, you can get on local news. Make it big enough to maybe make other people in other places follow suit, then it reaches CNN or another major network, soon there will be alot of people speaking against it. Don't try and wait on anyone else to do it either, that only prolongs the suffering.
