Default Cirque du Soleil

Well this weekend I went to see my third Cirque here in Atlanta, this one was the most recent touring show, called Corteo. As usual, it absolutey made my jaw drop to the floor - I am constantly amazed at not only the physical prowess of the performers, but the sheer creativity of the performances.

I think as a personal trainer by profession, I have a greater appreciation for these than the average person has... I have set in my mind a box, or boundary if you will, of what I think the human body, under the proper training, is physically capable of doing. Some of the acts I have seen don't just push those boundries, they completely shatter them...

I started this thread to get feedback from all of you on the shows you have seen, what you liked and didn't like etc...

Anyways, I have seen Varekai, Alegria, and now Corteo. I think Alegria was probably my favorite overall... I would love to travel to Vegas to see the resident shows there like O (the water show), Ka (the fire show), and Zumanity (an adult oriented cirque?!?)...

If you are not familiar with Cirque du Soleil, find more information at www.cirquedusoleil.com

Saw it on tv, was too slow for my taste. Oddly while I do want to see them naked it still bugs me that I can somehow, probably the last throes of my puritanical upbringing.

I'm always amazed by Cirque - on tv it's clinically interesting, but not that involving; the travelling shows (Varekai) are staggering; and the Vegas ones literally rewrite your mind. 'O' remains one of the most amazing things I've seen.

There was a great segment on Cirque on '60 minutes' a year or so ago - it may be on youtube now. They talked about how many Olympic gymnasts were involved, etc. And you have to go to a Vegas show - the specially designed theatre magnifies everything so much, it's unbelievable.

I love the Cirque shows..... I've seen a couple on television but nothing really compares to seeing them up close. Live I've seen really only seen the ones in Vegas. I've seen Mystere and Ka.....loved them both. Now I want to see the other two Zumanity and "O"..It's amazing what they can do, I recomend seeing them if you can...

Yah Doughie, I thought that about them too several years back before I saw one... Then on kind of a fluke situation, I saw one live and said to myself 'I am never going to miss one of these again...'

They are damn expensive, I paid $80 for mine... I ordered it as soon as the tour was announced (and got a front row seat!)... For something you are only going to see once every 2 years or so, I don't mind paying that...

And weiser you should really check out a live show if you get the opportunity... The TV/DVDs just don't give the same experience...

I've seen a couple of shows on TV, but I can't remember what they were called. They were old ones though. Interestingly enough, my friend's roomate is a performer in Cirque. I'll have to ask him which show that he's been in. As far as I know, he hasn't done Vegas yet, but works mostly on the eastern seaboard and Canada.
