I never saw this coming
William Peterson (Gil Grissom) is leaving CSI
William Petersen Exits 'CSI' - As Seen on TV
This is a bummer. I love that show and Grissom is one of my favorite characters.
As for the other versions of CSI...

That Sucks. He was the best part of that show. CSI Miami is crap thanks to Caruso. I like CSI NY because its different because they have all the really high-tech stuff even though some of it seems pretty far fetched.
This will probably be the last or second last season in my opinion.

Ya but Caruso is soooo funny......I love his opening statements....who writes his stuff??
As for the original CSI, last year was supposed to have been William Peterson's last, but.....I guess they talked him into onemore season (??) It's a shame, I love his character too...quiet, intellectual, mysterious..

If he leaves ...
... and I think he will this time, it will be the end of the series. With Jorga Fox and Gary Dourdan also gone, that leaves only Marg Helgenberger as an original major cast member. They would have to reinvent the show with a virtually new cast.
As for the others, I like them both. CSI Miami's main appeal has been the women on the show, and I have to admit, they've been a major reason I'm a fan. But with the loss of the actress who played Kane's sister-in-law (I can't remember her name) and Alana de la Garza (now on Law and Order), who played his wife of 15 minutes, and Khandi Alexander, the medical examiner, the hotness factor has cooled. Add to that the female actors public complaints about having to wear so many "cleavage" tops, that show is also short lived, IMO.
Caruso only ever plays the same character personality and it gets old after a while, to me. While I also like CSI NY, Gary Sinese also plays the same character personality, but for some reason it's easier to take from him. One thing I like about NY is that the other characters are such diverse personalities and the writers really play that up.
Anyway, I still watch all three when I get the chance and probably will until their mutual demise. Of course, there's always reruns ...

I don't remember him in Hill Street Blues. Are you thinking of NYPD Blue, by chance? He was on the first season.

IMHO... David Caruso's best role was in "First Blood". Remember?? He was the only cop at that station who seemed to have a problem with how they were treating Rambo.
I loved the original CSI. Grissom was one of my favorite characters on TV.
I never got into CSI:Miami as I think Caruso was horrible (I wonder if he has a metal plate in one side of his head and that's why he does that head-tilt thing for all of his lines).
As for this...

Poor babies... I feel so sad for them that they're hot, and have successful careers because... well... they're hot.
As for CSI:NY, I have to admit that I never really gave it much of a chance.
