Oh man.. sorry to rain on the parade, but I have to say that I don't really like beer and don't know why it's so beloved.
I thought it was one of those things that you like when you become an adult, but it hasn't really come. Now and then, I'll have a cold beer if I go out with friends (to not be too much of a freak), but I probably drink a beer every couple of months. I kind of have a sweet tooth and prefer a soft drink as my liquid vice, and when I get a martini or something, I get one of those chocolate mint fruity girly ones. No wonder I don't have hair on my chest, lol.
Anyway, I got back from Oktoberfest two weeks ago (yeah, of all people) and had a few brews. They tasted better than I'm used to, specifically Spaten, Paulaner, and Hacker-Pschorr. The wheat beers are my favorites. Still not my top bev of choice, but in that environment, it sure was a good. So, I guess I'll say that my favorite is anything consumed by the liter in Munich. I'll take my snob points now, thx. =P

It's a cool thread, I think it's interesting how much preference there is for different brands of beer, where I don't really know much of a difference. To me, there's light, regular, and dark hehe.

Not a great beer fan, I much prefer a malt whisky That said, in a social gathering I do have a taste for a good cider.

I have become somewhat of a beer snob over the years. My beer of choice in college was Natural Light with the occasional Bud Light.
Now I mainly drink micro-beers and imports - Hoegaarden is my favorite. I also like the majority of Hefeweizens. Rogue Dead Guy Ale is another good beer. For the record, I won't turn down any beer that's offered though...
I think the change came from college to now because getting drunk in college for $10 was the plan. Now I'd rather have a couple of GOOD beers and call it a night.

I just discovered Hoegaarden...I love it!!! My new favorite!! I concur on the Hefeweizens. Some German friends introduced me to it and I've been hooked ever since.
2nd place is probably Franziskaner...close behind is Dos Equis, both Modelos, Peroni, Kirin Ichiban, Most of the Shiner Bocks, and can't forget Leinenkugel...but I still love good old Coors, MGD, and Lone Star too.
Man...that's awesome that you like Hoegaarden.

This is really gonna set back the reputation of Wisconsonites.... If that's possible
In New Glarus WI there is a small micro brewery. They make a number of good ales, Ipa's and such. There best is called Spotted Cow. It's a hoppy brew with a nutty finish great drinking it with anything on the grill. And here it comes, It's great with strong cheese....there I said it.

I have yet to find any alcohol that i can actually say i enjoy. I don't like to not be in control of myself so i don't do recreational things like that at all, let alone drink something i think taste like shit. Beer is nasty to me and i too don't get it's appeal other than the young want to be manly frat boy mentality that i have grown out of.

Got to go with some locals to Colorado. But we have tons of great brews here....
Coors Light for your average drinking.
Easy Street Wheat is always good.
And you can never go wrong with a good whiskey and water on the rocks!
