Religious law more important than secular law
This time not the muslims with sharia law, it's Texan jurors. Link

The fifth juror also said that he believed “the Bible is truth from page one to the last page”, and that if civil law and biblical law were in conflict, the latter should prevail.

Yeah, some friends and I have been discussing this one for a bit. So much is wrong with Texas' death penalty cases that the only solution at this point is a mass commutation. Without any specific knowledge, I'd guess that defense counsel had no idea what they were doing (a classic Texas method) - getting those people off juries is supposed to be pretty straight-forward in voir dire.
Of course Texas should have to incur the cost of doing this entire thing over again, and be told to do these cases right, let the guilty go free, or go bankrupt (first option being the best, of course. Then the second). And then convict him and put him to death.
Also: the juror who felt the death penalty to be a more economically conservative option should examine the cost of the fuckery that this opinion will now be costing everyone.
