I've heard Pogues through the last day, gosh I need a drink on that
Pogues - Rum Sodomy & the Lash

The Sick Bed Of Cuchulainn
The Old Main Drag
Wild Cats Of Kilkenny
A Pair Of Brown Eyes
I'm A Man You Don't Meet Every Day
Sally MacLennane
Dirty Old Town
Jesse James
Navigator
Billy's Bones
The Gentleman Soldier
And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda
Dirty Old Town
I met my love by the gas works wall
Dreamed a dream by the old canal
Kissed a girl by the factory wall
Dirty old town
Dirty old town
Clouds a drifting across the moon
Cats a prowling on their beat
Spring's a girl in the street at night
Dirty old town
Dirty old town
Heard a siren from the docks
Saw a train set the night on fire
Smelled the spring on the smokey wind
Dirty old town
Dirty old town
I'm going to make a good sharp axe
Shining steel tempered in the fire
Will chop you down like an old dead tree
Dirty old town
Dirty old town

^geeeeezus .......
We walked him to the station in the rain
We kissed him as we put him on the train
And we sang him a song of times long gone
Though we knew that we'd be seeing him again
(Far away) I'm sad to say I must be on my way
So buy me beer and whiskey 'cause I'm going far away (far away)
I'd like to think of me returning when I can
To the greatest little boozer and to Sally MacLennane

Apologies to the good wife, my gene comes back with, you might remember these two ???, ..............

David Bowie - Changes
David Bowie - Starman
David Bowie - Rock 'N' Roll Suicide
Time takes a cigarette, puts it in your mouth
You pull on your finger, then another finger, then your cigarette
The wall-to-wall is calling, it lingers, then you forget
Ohhh, you're a rock 'n' roll suicide
You're too old to lose it, too young to choose it
And the clocks waits so patiently on your song
You walk past a cafe but you don't eat when you've lived too long
Oh, no, no, no, you're a rock 'n' roll suicide

Have you ever seen this? This is Ian Gillan's first release after he disbanded the Ian Gillan Band, & started up as just Gillan (sometime in '79), nothing remarkable there, admitedly. However the B-side is the most jammin' version of Smoke On The Water you've ever heard. Recorded 'as live' (ie. all the musicians in the studio together), with supreamly raucous guitar supplied by Bernie Torme, in one fell swoop Gillan left behind all that sub-jazz stuff he was doing with the previous act, & layed his ROCK credentials firmly on the table.
If I had the set up to make mp3's from vinyl, I'd post it.
