thanks toonces, it didnt really do anything. It gave me a rep comment, and instead of the little box on the left being grey, its red. And it dropped my rep power to 7 from 8.
oh well, least now im not curious

Shot you some + rep to balance things out. Look, now you're back up to 8 rep power!

Rep power comes from some sort of accumulation of number of posts, rep points (can be seen in your control panel), and, I think, number of "thanks" you get.

I believe that if you are willing to participate in a public forum you have to realize that not all posts will be to you liking. Myself being a new member here, I have learned who to skip over pretty fast and who's post I look forward to reading. I believe positive rep should be rewarded for consistent good/informative posts, don't bother just because someone annoys, and negative reps when, like tooncesthecat said, when rules are broken. My 2 cents.

i will admit i did post a comment once in the babes section in regards 2 noticing a babe pic she apparently had tendon surgery on her elbow were a few pics it wasnt there and on one of the newest ones it was and commented on that, but suprisingly got positively repped 4 pointing it out.....lol

I never have and I have no plans to. This board and all its forums are at least adequately monitored so that the nuisances I would be tempted to neg rep are taken care of by the mods. Here's to all of them, including the ones who've slapped me down a few times for being stuck on stupid. Hopefully, I've never been a bother because those are the ones I'd be tempted to neg rep.

As for opinions, I may not agree with what some of you say, but I never have a problem with anyone expressing an honest opinion ... no matter how incredibly stupid it may be. J/K I'm sure that my opinions seem that way to some people, too. It's all good and that's what America is supposed to be all about, isn't it? Patrick Henry said, "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

I've tossed out a few neg reps in my time here; there have been times when we were pushing the "no post w/o pics" fairly hard, so once or twice there -- also, CON got it a few times, as did the weird British girl who got engaged to someone online (?? I don't remember the whole story) - my reasoning there was that they weren't acting like adults, and needed the full force and fury of the punishment that only a negative rep can dole out. Or something.

And don't worry, will, I promise not to use the dreaded red button for your political posts

over on another board, i get negative reps every now and then because i'm not "funny enough" with some of my posts...basically, i go on a rant about something stupid (like jazz hands and how much i dislike them) and then i get folks who enjoy it and tell me it's genius...and there's always one or two that drop the ol' neg rep on me and tell me i'm evil. while it's irritating, it lets me know who the folks doing jazz hands are...

hopefully, i shant get any negative reps here....my posts often end up going in a different direction than i plan out...which often leads to sorta funny stuff to some...but incredibly stupid and pointless stuff to everyone else. as for dealing them out myself, i doubt i'll ever give anyone negative reps...it's near impossible to insult or bother me, so i doubt i'll ever feel the urge.
