Cell Phones While Working Out?
I see quite a few guys and gals walking around in the gym, talking between sets. Do you?

Its usually the younger abercrombie/hollister crowd who does it haha. Although sometimes when I forget to put my phone in my locker or leave it in my center console I am guilty of replying to a text or two if I get a msg during my workout

Nope.
Because...
A) I workout at home.
B) I don't own a cell phone.

If my kids are home alone, I'll carry mine with me. Otherwise, no.

No...it's too distracting for me. My iPod is good enough. Good luck with your Browns this year Toonces. My Giants are going for a repeat!

Yes, because I use my phone almost exclusively as a MP3 player.

I bring my phone with me sometimes, but I only answer if its my dad or mom calling, otherwise I'll leave it and call after.

If it is an "office" gym such as many London city firms have then it's completely acceptable to have a phone on, if it's a private gym then it should be off as it will interfere with other people's concentration.

I never have one on me in the gym. I check it during an extended work out to see if the kids called or not. Drives me nuts to see someone walking on the track or on a treadmill blabbing on a cell.

I leave it in my gym bag - I'll check for missed calls and new emails when I get some BCAA's out of my bag, and if anything was important I'll reply then, otherwise it can wait until I'm done.
If I didn't charge my ipod, though, I'll use the iphone as a back-up mp3 player, but that's the only time I'll carry it around while lifting (the phone's my default mp3 player while running, b/c then I don't need an mp3 player and a phone).

This isn't just a Gym issue but a life issue. People can't be away from their phones and contact for any time at all. There are times to turn the phone off but people never do. Its nice to have the phone around so someone can call you in case of an emergency or something but so many people are just bushitting about nothing on them. I use my cell phone for important calls only and only give my number out to certain people. If you want to bullshit, call me at home or meet me at a lounge.

lol well....at least they are in good shape if they can talk still and aren't all huffing and puffing for breath. Isn't that a sign of a healthy jogger lol One who can still maintain a conversation even while running...not having to concentrate of breathing, etc... hehe
