Well the guy had still some 20hrs that his post was on display, so he was very lucky. Usually the ban is instantly. Now here's were the "art form" comes in: his post isn't removed but stays on the forum on display for everyone to see as a kind of a warning for others who would be tempted to follow the bad example. I think the hidden message here is:"see what happens if you don't assimilate?".
