Question about posing
Sorry I'm new to this site. I belong to a few bodybuilding sites and that's pretty much what they focus on but that's not my goal. I want to be in figure. I haven't learned how to pose correctly yet and I was wanting to know how much difference there really is and where I can find material to help me learn. Sorry for sounding a little silly but at least I'm trying right?
Thanks - Erika

Hi Erika,
It all depends on the federation you choose to compete with, there is not a set standard so it may vary, some orgs have figure but it is more like a model with no posing, just walking and standing, some have routine with sneakers others with suit and heals.....some no routine.
You seem to be mentioning Figure with the open handed posing?
Go to fitnessteambc.com and click on Figure - for more info on that category and what I am saying here about the various federations or organizations.
Do you have a show in mind, date, federation?? Let me know, post it here and I can help you find some posing info based on that but I don't want to give you the wrong info so I needed to clarify which contest organization then I will know their rules and guidelines and can tell you exactly what they want and how.
Thanks,
Linda

Hey Erika, Welcome to the Forum!
I'm sure Italianangel can help you out with a little more info.
I see you're from my favorite city: Austin, TX. I lived there from the mid-seventies to the mid-eighties. We still visit at least twice a year (the Zoo, Salt Lick, Stubs, the Bats, etc.)
Have you checked this gym out: Hyde Park Gym? One of the last hard-core gyms left in Texas.

I haven't even heard of that gym lol.
About the comps that I want to be in, I'm not sure yet. I don't even know how to find out where comps are yet. But I don't want to do comps with dance, just posing.
Thanks for the help

Okay, that was the info I needed.
Now I need to know what area you are in? City and state/province and I can direct you to some shows and how the posing is for them.

Wow you are really trying to be helpful. Thank you alot. I'm in Austin Texas. I'm about 2.5 hours away from Houston and I know that one of my friends in Houston does some stuff but I heard her talking about going to california so I don't know what that was all about. I'm not ready for a competition of course but any place locally or otherwise that they hold comps would be okay so that I could go watch and compete when I'm ready. Thank you so very much for the help.

I have a posing question! I was watching some vids of ladies posing, and i tried to do it. and it looks like you can tense every part of themselves!
My other half was taking photos of me and he said "tense your back" or "tense your shoulders" and i said "ok... how?"
hehe, im assuming its just easy once you get bigger? or is there a knack to it?

It definately takes practice, video yourself when doing it then you can see for yourself what looks right or not. YOu do need to tense it all, so when you do front double biceps you also flex quad and abs.......
My Figure manual will be up on the Fitness Team BC site in the next day or so and it covers all the posing variations for the various Figure types.
