Tanning How much is too much
I'm taking a whack at where to put this post....
In looking at a lot of the competition photos, both male and female I got to thinking. Is is just me or are some of the competitiors looking freakishly tan these days?
You know, where the body is about 17 shades darker than their face....
To me it looks almost cartoonish, what do you think?
And then there is the issue of what this does to ones skin, leather anyone?

Actually, most of those competitors you see with the really tanned skin aren't so tanned at all. There are plenty of spray-on tanning products out there which can give the skin a bronzed to dark appearance.
When I did my first show, I used a spray-on tanning product. And let me tell you, I went from looking like a white guy to a puerto rican in a few minutes.

You Pushin' It
When you turn the color orange or burnt sienna, you pushin' it.
When you look like you spent an hour in the toaster oven, you pushin' it.
When you almost look indian, you pushin' it.
When you look like a color that isnt in any crayon box, you pushin' it.
When you bump into something and that spot turns white, you pushin' it.
When you use half of a bottle of fake tanner at one time, you pushin' it.
When you look like you need to stay out of the sun, you pushin' it.
When you look like a leather muppet, you pushin' it.
When you look more greasy than deep fried fish in a paper bag from the liquor store, you pushin' it.
Thats a poem I wrote just now its called....
You guessed it...
YOU PUSHIN' IT

For the most part, it's pretty safe. Some wash off easily after one show, others take a week or two to wash off completely.
Before I use a product, I research the ingredients first. The products I've used have been proven safe to use. However, I did read story a while ago which involved this woman getting really, really sick after getting a spray-on tan at a tanning salon. Turns out, one of the ingredients in the spray-on tanning product the tanning salon was using contained DDT, which is a pesticide. To give you an idea of how dangerous it is, DDT is nicknamed the "atomic bomb of insects."
So us competitors have to be very careful with which products we choose to use.

Tan
I have seen some really really freakishly white bodybuilders before prejudging turn freakishly dark after using Dream tan and Pro Tan. Many forget or choose to not put it on their face which makes them look strange on stage.
