Default Eating out

When watching what you eat Eating out can be a bitch. I have 2 daughters and mcdonalds is where they like to eat a lot. I avoid that place as well as most fast food joints all together. Besides subway, where I get a six inch turkey on wheat extra veggies no mayo, mustard or cheese, where else is good for a quick bite when on the run?

Usually if I am stuck with fast food options I go for the grilled chicken sandwiches. Just tell them to leave off the mayo (and don't get the value menu since you will be getting fries and soda). Another option is going to the fast food joints and picking the cheap $1 orders.

Salad, baked potato, chili, yogurt, grilled stuff (if available). Usually this $1 stuff is available at mcdonalds, Burger king, and wendy's. Since you said you are looking for a quick bite, not a whole meal, just eat those and leave an appetite for a healthy good dinner and you should be fine. Just don't expect to eat your 3-6 meals there. Treat them as snacks.

Other than that, ever consider grilling a bunch of chicken breasts in advance like on a George Foreman grill? Refrigerate them, and pull them out and put on a paper plate and nuke it a bit. Take it out and bring it with you to eat. Lot more work in advance though. As for your kids, start changing their eating habits now, not dramatically of course, but at least don't give in to their demands eating at those places all the time. (Of course, I was not trying to teach your kids in anyway, just a little suggestion). Good luck.

Chipotle is great, when done right. Take it easy on the rice and beans, and make it a bowl instead of tortilla. Damn I'm salivating thinking about it

Chic-fil-a's char grilled chix sandwich only has 230 cals. Plus they have fruit cups instead of fries.
Many fast food joints are attempting to put a healthy spin on their menus.... giving us health nuts a few more options
