my 53 gram protein Turkey sandwhich lunch!
Before i list the ingrediants to make this ultra manly turkey sandwhich i will say that 12g of the 53g of protein comes from 1.5 cups of milk that i drink along with it.
Warning: this sandwhich far exceeds the boundaries of your regular sandwhich bags. Due to its extreme volume i suggest wrapping in tin foil or paper of some kind.
2 slices of whole wheat bread............6g
2 slices of kraft swiss cheese.............12g
3 slices of oscar myer turkey..............18g
2 slices of bacon..................................5g
handful of letuce
3 slices of tomato
a tablespoon of light mayonase
1.5 cups of skim milk...........................12g
Total protein = 53g
or 41g without the milk
can anyone beat this as far as a sandwhich goes?

heh it is quite a sandwich, but one of the major keys to a diet is variety, so I hope u aint havin that everyday. Only thing about sandwiches like that is you use alot of processed ingredients. They usually contain lots of sodium as well, like the turkey you got, I bet it has lots of sodium, along with the cheese as well, bacon too. Now I aint knockin yo sandwich down, Im just saying with a couple simple changes you can make it healthier.
Like what you say? Opt for 1 peice of cheese instead of 2, less its less protein but its also less fat cals and cholesterol. If you gotta have bacon try and find low sodium. Also for a change, add some red pepper (you can even roast it for an even better flavor, if u dont know how to roast a pepper tell me and ill give u info), it gives off a good flavor in a turkey sandwich and its a veggie, also spread about a teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil, not only will you get the good fats from that but it also has an awesome flavor. Here is a kinda hard one, I personally think its better to use homemade turkey instead of packaged stuff, for a few reasons.
1. It tastes better
2. No chemical preservatives.
3. No weird as ingredients that you wont even know what they are for.
4. Less fat and cals
5. Def alot less sodium.
6. Depending on how much turkey u slice possibly more protein.
7. Cheaper. You buy a whole turkey and bake it, using the white and dark meat it can give you a whole lot of sandwiches, on the other hand buying a pack of sliced turkey wont last as long and it costs more.
Besides you can also use the baked turkey bits in stirfrys and other meals, but u cant use oscar myer in a stirfry lol well u could but it would sure look funny.
Storing the cooked turkey in the fridge can stay for quite a bit but if u use it for sandwiches and other stuff u wont have to worry about it going bad. Another suggestion, which I think is a good one, is to buy a whole turkey to bake, save the white lean meat to slice for sandwiches and save the dark meat for stirfrys and whatever else you can make with turkey, plus dark meat stirfrys better than white meat, because its more tender and juicy so it will be better. Just make sure to trim excess fat from the dark before stirfrying.
Like I said variety is a big key, change your sandwiches up, and no matter how good it tastes it may get boring. BTW i like the warning. lol
Here is my man sandwich lol
3 slices homemade turkey
2 slices 12 grain bread (more protein cause of the nuts and oats)
bit of onion, green and red pepper
some lettuce
1 tomato
about 3/4 teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil spread on bread.
Fat free and low sodium swiss.
(depending on my time I may stirfry the onions in a bit of oil and forget the oil on the bread and also roast both types of the peppers for better flavor)
Usually had with an apple and lemon water. not lemonade but water with a bit of lemon juice in it, because lemon juice helps out metabolism

DAve, I have done something similar like yours for breakfast. Only thing different is I add 1 egg nuked by the microwave with the multiple slices of turkey breast and bacon and cheese with 3 slices of bread (a triple decker that is toasted) with ketchup/mayo/mustard (I know, overkill). Then I have a glass of milk and bowl of cereal (cheerios, generic brand) with the milk and my fish oil capsules. The veggies I save to eat during my other meals.

interesting reply doughboy. I've never baked a turkey in my life though, iam not sure how i would do it. What temperature and time do u set for the turkey? Don't i also have to baste it or something? Thats a good idea about the fresh turkey instead of packaged. What are the negative affects of too much sodium, i was also wondering.

Well, baking a turkey well can be difficult without drying it out. But either way its still good. One thing I find that helps for beginners is to get Turkey sized oven bags to put your turkey in. It has directions on the box, and usually when you buy a turkey, it has directions on the pack, like time and temp. Generally the temp is 350 and the time kinda varies depending on the size. Most packs will say something like cook turkey for 25-30 min per pound. So if u had a 8 pound turkey it would take about 4 hrs max.
Besides giving it a good rub with your fav spices like salt pepper cayanne if u like the heat garlic powder maybe some herbs if u have some (rosemary goes good with poultry) and putting it in the oven bag, you dont gotta do anything but put it in the oven, just make sure its not in too long. Generally turkeys have a popup timer to tell u when its done. Kinda do an estimation on the time then when you have like 20 min left check on that timer, then check on it every 5 min from then. as soon as the timer pops take it out, if u can maybe a few min earlier when it just looks done. Let the turkey rest for about 15 min, because for one it will continue to cook (1 reason to pull it out early so it dont dry) secondly it will relax the turkey and get it juicy. Also, if u have the time cut up some carrots onions and celery and stuff it inside the turkey before putting it in the oven bag, because that will give it a better flavor, help the juices, plus u got a bit of veggies.
Main negative effect of too much sodium is high blood pressure. Watch more carefully if your family has a history of it. I know I got alot of words here but dont be put off.
All you gotta do is:
Buy the turkey
*rub turkey in olive oil ; season it and *put the veggies in (*optional)
put it in the oven bag
put in oven
watch for popup timer
take it out and let it rest 15 min
slice and eat

Sounds like a bad ass sandwich
but can't your body only consume and use 50grams of protein an hour?
I'm not sure if this is a fact, I've just heard it somewhere and its lingered in the back of my head ever since.. no doubt thats a good sandwich tho
