Some Breakfast meal ideas...
The most important meal of the day but its the hardest for me to choose what to eat. Throughtout the day of snacking, lunch, dinner, pre/post workout meals I think I got a pretty decent grip on. But Breakfast is killing me! I dont know what to buy or what to cook when I get it. I just started a weight-loss and muscle gain diet and for the time being I've been having some toast and cereal but I know there are much more things I can eat that are more healthier and benefical in the morning. I dont like eggs, so mark that one out...lol. If you could give me like 3-5 breakfast ideas, that would be great. I saw the sticky posted above but I dont really like the smoothie stuff. Thanks!

in the same boat- I don't like breakfast, don't like smoothies, and can't eat alot of breakfast foods (oatmeal, some fruits).
For me, the best thing has been a good cereal with skim milk (Total with yogurt clumps, Life or Special K with yogurt), or a cup of yogurt, or a Clif bar, or occasionally cold meat (roll a couple different ones together, with a slice of cheese if you want, and eat like that. Just leave off the fat stripe of mayo that my Chilean mother used to glob on there- ick!). I prefer to get sliced meat, like spiral ham, etc., rather than super-processed deli meat. Maybe add some cottage cheese to the center of the roll. If you can eat fruits and melons, I always liked cantaloupe, honeydew, strawberries, and kiwi for breakfast (back when I could eat melons).
I try to stay away from breads of all sorts in the morning, as they make me ravenous about 30 minutes after eating them.
I always drink a natural (not from concentrate, no sugar added) juice in the mornings- oj, apple, or grape/cherry. This tides me over for a long time, gives extra vitamins/antioxidants, and I count natural juice as a "food" rather than a "drink." And a bonus- juice is pretty OK on my acidy stomach, especially apple juice.
Hope that gives you some ideas, from a fellow non-breakfast-liker.

Honestly, good some good natural oats or oatmeal and you will be fine. If your trying to lose weight I wouldnt advocate eating to much fruit due to the sugar. Oatmeal is a great breakfast item as it is a source of energy from good carbs and good amount of protein depending on what brand you buy. Try oatmeal and toast and you should be fine. GOOd luck.

I've got a few go-to bfasts, though it sounds like yaw'll may not like them:
Regular, at home:
-oatmeal w/ raisins, cinnamon, honey, and protein powder
On the run:
-3 hard-boiled eggs, banana
If an early AM cardio session:
-Tang and protein powder
Used to have Sunday brunch w/ the now ex-GF:
-Eggs, sliced ham, and we split Belgian waffles
Super-on-the-run:
Bagel, tiny amount cream cheese, giant pile of salmon (gravlax)
Out of groceries:
A few spoons of peanut butter from the jar, a slice of bread/toast, and an apple
Really, though, eating anything is better than just skipping bfast - cold pizza's a better choice than not eating at all. Cereal and toast isn't a bad way to go (assuming the cereal isn't crap, which is a big assumption, and the toast isn't white bread -- of course, unless you're eating Italian bread - which is white - or organic, I can guarantee you that the bread has HFCS, and the cereal may as well), but it's a little carb-heavy for me.
My $.02

Yea. The toast is 100% whole grain wheat bread and I usually eat Kix or Smart Start. You know one of the healthy cereals not like Cap'n Crunch or Trix. Thank you guys for posting back. You helped...

I kinda break my breasfast in two :P
First thing when I wake up is to mix 8oz of water+gatorade (or OJ), 10g of glutamine (betancourt high-c), a teaspoon of psyllium husk powder and half of a 42g protein IDS "new whey" - that'd make about 20g of protein. That takes about less than 2 minutes to make and drink.
Then I begin to prepare my breakfast, which I eat 1 hour right after taking the concotion above. I actually have several types of quick breakfasts I like to make:
Breakfast A:
- 2 eggs + 2-3 egg whites and some diced veggies (tomatoes and/or micronuked brocolli)
- 1/2 cup of oatmeal (or kashi go lean crunch) + 1tbsp of ground flaxseed + some diced fruit and some yogurt
Breakfast B:
2 eggs + 2-3 egg whites and salt and 1tbsp of ground flaxseed, wrapped in whole wheat pita, spinach (or micronuked brocolli) and hummus (or cream cheese)
1 whole wheat pita with ricotta cheese and some honey (or fruit)
Breafast C:
2 eggs, some tilapia/beef/good old chikin and micronuked brocolli
1 diced pear + diced strawberry + yogurt + 1tbsp of ground flaxseed + 1tbsp of toasted wheat germ.
I like tilapia fish cuz, of all the fish, this one I can cook in the microwave in less than 2 minutes, it tastes good and doesn't smell after coming out of the microwave oven (you can't do that with other fish or seafood.)

depends on your goals but in general you can go with steak and green beans, dry cottage cheese with almonds and brocolli and Udos oil, mana bread with almond butter, greens plus with water is good when on the run and leaning, chicken wrap.......

I've actually been pretty good with breakfast lately
Big glass of OJ before I leave, around 6:45am
At work.. around 7:30ish.
6 hard boiled egg whites
1 1/2 cup granola mixed with 1/2c yogurt
Around 10:30 I try to down half a protein shake just for good measure.
I stuck a mini-fridge in my personal office so I can keep snacks close by. Makes it much more convenient and thus far more likely for me to eat regularly than if I have to go to the office kitchen area.

I been trying to drop some fat for the last few months, for my breakfast I've been taking a cup of light cherry or strawberry yogurt and fill it with organic granola. I don't know if I should be eating more, I was planning on adding a cup of oatmeal to this I usually have this around 6 and by 8:30 I'm pretty hungry and tired.

Be careful with granola, many varieties use corn syrup and other high calorie sugars as binders....You might be adding calories you don't need.

i must say kashi go lean, and go lean crunch are 2 of the best cereals out there, high in protein and low in sugars. LOVE THEM, i just dont have them everyday, Mix up your meals and vairety will take care of boredom and any nutrient deficiencies.
I love eggwhite omlettes in the morning with no fat veggie bacon, and a some yougurt! best meal for me just before heading out, NEVER SKIP BREAKy!

Out of all the stuff I buy that I look at nutrition facts, I just grabbed the granola and assumed it was healthy because after all it says organic on the package I havent worried too much about the calories in it because I figured I ate pretty light in the morning to begin with, but Ive been really trying to cut sugar little by little from my diet, god that stuff is like crack to me.
Im thinking Im going to go a different route with breakfast, I have about 5 minutes total in the morning without rushing to get somethign prepared. I was thinking a good protein shake with a decent sized bowl of kashi cereal. For months my breakfast was a 100 calorie cup of dannon light yogurt and a small handful of granola.

Be careful on the canned fruits Vick, read the info label and check sugar and carbs. for the small nutritional value left in canned fruit the added calories may not be worth it. The frozen bagged varieties are better, fresh is always best.

It took me a couple tries to get the microwave timing down, the first few days I nuked it too long, burned myself then got pissed waiting around for it to cool (oatmeal retains heat like steel I swear), i think i got it down for now, I only had blueberries on hand and its really not that bad, eating that makes me realize how darn sweet my usual breakfast of peanut butter and low sugar jam or yogurt really is, Ill break my addiction to this sugar one way or another.
A protein shake in addition to my 1/2 a cup of oatmeal, handful of berries would be alright wouldnt it?
