Cooking Chicken?
To get big I hear you have to eat a lot of chicken, fish, eggs, etc.
When I read about body builders eating chicken, which type of chicken are they talking about? Like how is it cooked?
I know theres tons of ways to cook chicken, but I'm a teenage guy and have no idea how to do any of them properly. Sometimes my mom or sister fires up the grille and grilles me a few peices usually lasts me that day and the next day, lmaoo i sound pathetic having my mom/ sister cook for me. Which is why Im here. I want to know how to cook for myself, especially the chicken.
Some people that I know who work out cook their chicken on the stove in a pan and it comes out so good. It looks white almost as if it was boiled when they are done, so I decided to give this a try.. My chicken came out darker almost a light brown and it tasted grosse.
We've got about 20peices of boneless chicken breast in the freezer. Whenever I plan on eating chicken should I put a few peices in the refridgerator previous night so its thawed in the morning? Or can you cook chicken while its frozen?
Thank you!

i buy tyson organic skinless chicken breasts in a bag of about 15 or so, frozen and individually wrapped. When i make them, i fill the sink with hot water and let them sit in there for about 10 min, completely thawed and then toss em on the grill for 20 min. I do the same thing with salmon steaks, talapia etc... you can do the overnight thing but i dont always know what i want the night before

You could cook the chicken while it's frozen but it will take a while to cook, it's better to let it de-thaw (over night or in hot water) but don't refreeze it!!
We normally use lemon pepper seasoning and cook it on a skillet, it's simple and it's soo good! Maybe with some green beans on the side! It just depends on the kind of taste you are going for...but you should definitely try it out!

First off - you only want to eat the chicken breasts - everything else has fat. Chicken breasts are great for you - one piece has about 20 g protein and about 1 g fat. It is perfection ;-)
Personally, after thawing in the refrigerator I season my chicken with salt, lemon and pepper, and anything else I want; then spread a tiny bit of olive oil over them, and then put them in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit and let them bake for about 45 minutes. They come out golden brown and delicious.
Then I eat one of them and put the rest in the refrigerator; which can then be taken out, microwaved and eaten over the next few days.
Good luck and happy chicken eating ;-)

I hate chicken. I spent 96 days at sea eating nothing but chicken and rice with brown gravey for lunch and dinner meals. I even smell that and it makes me want to throw up. and that was 17 yrs ago. I eat turkey breast or fish.

possibly jacked the thread but fish gives you even more benefits than chicken does. In addition to the protein you get good healthy omega fats, especially with salmon and other similar fish.
With my talapia and mahi i grill it with some EVOO, old bay on one side with a little parsley and some mcormicks taco seasoning on the other. Shread it up afterwards and toss it in a salad with some blue corn tortilla chips and light sour cream, couple tblsp salsa and its a great fish taco salad.

I cook enough chikin' for 2 days. If I cook for more than that, I freeze half of it (which I later put in the fridge for thawing.) You can safely keep chicken in the fridge for 2 days TOPS. Any longer and you want to freeze (for thawing the night before eating it.)
You can always micronuke the shit out of it - that will thaw and heat it. Sometimes the texture may not be the same, but I've come to ignore it. As long as I can eat my animal protein I don't really care much :P
A quick recipe for cooking chicken which I follow is the following:
- heat up the oven to 400F degrees
- dice and slice the crap out of the chicken
- mix the chicken with a bit of honey mustard, basil, oregano, some salt and some lemon juice
- put the mix in a oven-safe container and cover it with aluminum paper (seal it well.)
- bake it for 20 mins
- turn off the oven
- take the container out of the oven and check if the chicken is fully cooked. If not just put it back and check it every 10 minutes.
Should take about 30 minutes to nuke-cook the chicken from the time the oven gets to 400F degrees.
Then estimate how much you will eat in two days and put it on the fridge. Freeze the remainder.
Pretty much that's the only way I eat chicken. Quick, convenient and doesn't taste like crap.

Oh, I forgot to say that I take that chicken out of the fridge and wrap it in whole wheat pita, with some hummus and brocolli, wrapped in aluminum foil (or wax paper). I make 3-4 of them, which I eat throughout the day with other stuff. Simple, quick-n-easy way to take chicken to work.

I'd be lying if I said I were a big fan of chicken... especially chicken breast is certainly not the best tasting meat out there. Got myself some salmon from Wal-mart last night ;-)
Lean steak is certainly better than chicken and so is fish. And we didn't really jack the thread, seeing as the original poster knew we are supposed to eat chicken, fish, eggs, etc. ;-)

those who cant get chicken to taste good need a cooking class or a spice rack lol
your food will only taste as good as you make it. dont just chomp on a whole chicken breast for your meal, cut it up and dump it in a salad, or scoop up a bite of peas or beans afterwards.
Before everyone goes and says they dont have time to have a salad or whatever during work are full of shit. Ive always said that too, guess what, i found time and its quite easy and it saves a shitload of money from eating out. I always cook an extra piece of whatever meat i have the night before and an extra helping of any vegetables or salad whatever. I toss them into ziplock backs and toss them into a small lunchbox with an icepack along with my skim milk/omega oil/whey shake + afternoon snack. Those who say they cant, arent serious enough about getting that fit or in shape, period. Its illegal to NOT give you a lunch break at work.

My favorite way to cook my chicken for the past few months is simple. Take a half pound of chicken breast, cut into 1/2 inch strips. Heat some olive oil in the pan, then fry strips adding chilli power, paprika, and minced garlic. When the chicken is cook through added a tbl spoon of honey and add enough Franks Red Hot to your liking. Sounds weird but its good as hell give it a shot.

for me my favorite method of cooking it is on the grill. i'll slice it up and marinate it in my choice of seasonings overnight and grill it up the next day.

This thread is making me hungry. I think I'll have to get me some chicken, thought about getting some chicken fillets, frying them and putting them in the oven in a pot with some veggies. Not too sure about the seasoning though, maybe some creamcheese and blackpepper.
