Lifetime Fitness - Centreville, VA
My family has been a member at this club for about 5 years now; I've been going 6 days a week for over a year and a half myself. We use all areas of the gym: weights, cardio equipment, swimming pools/hot tubs/saunas/steam rooms and spin classes in the studios. We love the childcare center as we have 4 children who go in there regularily.
Club is very clean, lots of equipment and even the evening rush isn't so bad if you like to socialize (I don't and workout around noon everyday).
Great staff, great location - highly recommend this club.

Awesome new section FP.
I was a member at Lifetime Fitness as well, I went to 2 different ones (they were somewhat close to each other) One in Canton, MI and one in Novi, MI. I had a 1 year membership. Brought my mom in she liked it and she got a year membership, she brought in my brother and he had a 1 year membership.
My family loves the place, nice, big, clean, cool staff. Going at night over here you almost have the Gym to yourself (very relaxing). We are kinda short on funds so we all had to cancel our memberships, but me and my mom (whenever we get the money again) will go back.
I highly recommend Lifetime Fitness as well.

It really is a good gym? I currently go to golds, but they just built one up the street and it opens in a week. I might go check it out. Is the price range similiar to Golds or higher?

Lifetime is about 60 a m onth in the chicago market, i've been going there for a while and it's awesome, i'm a basketball player too but the courts kinda suck there. at the one in warrenville they have this stupid "sign up list" for playing the games....that upsets me for two reasons
1. i'm used to the streetball "i got next" theory which is much more effective for keeping games competitive and weeding out poor competition (i know it's mean but there's two courts there, no reason why there can't be a separation of skill level cuz if u get one or two suckers on your team and lose you're sitting out for a good 45 minutes there)
2. People will actually scratch your name off the list and put theirs in, then you have an argument, etc.
other than that great club...sorry just venting about the only wrong thing with an otherwise perfect club
btw, i used to work there, although the club is awesom, don't recommend working there

I know some of the people opening the one up by you; you should definately check it out. I used to belong to Golds down here, but now we live for Lifetime.
I don't use the courts, so can't speak to that.

i haven't been to the one in my area its 15 mins away. The gym looks huge 3 pools w/slides. a 5star gym. TV everywhere. the only reason i'm not joining because of the enrollment fee, about 170 and 50 monthly. It has everything you could ask for.
If you're a guest you could get into the gym for $30. They don't want low income trouble makers in their gym.
I have a Bally, 24hr fitness, Powerhouse Gym, LA fitness in a 10 mile radius from where I live. I don't know which one to choose.
I also have www.plex.cc literally right behind my house only professional athletes go there about $200 monthly
FitnessPhotos could you freeze your membership at Lifetime? for example you join already and then you cancel your membership and you decide to come back do you have to pay another enrollment fee.

I used to belong to to the Lifetime in Lake in the Hills, IL and enjoyed it a great deal and used a significant part of the facilites averaging 4 workouts a week. I agree, the $60/month deal was a bit steep.
Now living in Knoxville, TN, I really wish they would put one out here in East Tennessee.
The introductory part of the program at first I thought was dorky, with the video and everything. I thought I knew all that stuff. But then I gave it a chance and learned so much more about diet and how the body really works.

So its $60 a month. Damn I pay 35 at golds. That does seem high. The building is pretty big though man. I am going to take a look at it and see what $60 gets me.

don't get me wrong, it's worth it. the club is clean, never seems crowded even when it is crowded. i can go there at 6 pm and be ok (not waiting in line forver for a machine or free weight), which is saying alot for January/ February at a health club. if you're worried about the initiation fee make sure the sales manager doesn't tour you, try to look for a younger salesman who might be up for sales, he'll find a way around making you pay the whole fee.
don't know about freezin memberships. i quit for a couple years for school and when i came back they recharged me the startup fee

Was a member at Balley Total Fitness.......one of the top ten mistakes of my life. Brutal contracts (signed in blood for 3 years), pissey employees, sub par cleanliness.
Joined a local gym and never looked back.

There is a one up the street as well as a LA Fitness that is a little farther, far enough to be a deal breaker. Anyone have any experience with LAF?

I joined Lifetime in Skokie Il about 3 weeks ago and I find it well worth it. Nothing beats waking up at 2 am and going to lift.

I was unhappy with the Lifestyles in my area. The A/C was always kept too warm, and they seemed more interested in signing new memberships than in keeping the current clientelle happy. Lots of dedicated sales staff- but nobody
seemed to care about anything else.

did you have to break your contract with golds cause i have a contract at worlds and i wnated some adivce on how to break it cuase i wanted to move outa the manasass area inot the fairfax area and they didnt have a worlds there or anywhere else at that. so now i feel confined to live in the same area till my contract is up cause they dont have enough gyms to cater other citys.

I believe I saw a worlds gym express somewhere off braddock Rd. and Ox. Road at I believe the shopping center/plaza called University Mall, check it out, maybe they will let you use your current membership there if you can't break it. It is right next to the university of George Mason.

yeai know the one your talking bout. ill have to check it out cause traditionaly those express gyms are for soccer moms that workout for liek 15 mins and be done with it, so they pretty much have chick wuss machines everywhere instead of benchs and squat racks for the hardcore. like i said though i geuss i can run over there and see what my options are it jsut suck that theres only like 2 real worlds gyms out here.
