Default Training for a Sprint Tri

Hey all, I just started my training for the Hyannis, MA sprint triathlon in June. First Tri ever for me so I decided to take it slow. I've started with a few initial runs and will be spending time in the pool and on the bike as well, obviously.

I'm doing it to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma society as well.

It will be a fun way to raise some dough for a good cause. I'm hoping to update periodically and ask tri newbie questions here as well!

Thanks for listening!

Engr

Have fun! I did my first sprint tri last year. I trained in the pool for a couple months before - since I was teaching myself I wanted to get comfortable first.

The thing I forgot on race day was most of my swimming gear! That made it suck for me - I didn't have my nose plugs, I had to borrow someone's goggles and that little hat thingee.

Otherwise the bike and run was cake.

Good luck and have fun! Look forward to the updates.

If you are going to wear a wetsuit in the race, make sure you practice swimming in one weeks before you race. They are constricting and can affect you both physically and psychologically in the heat of a race.

Thanks for the tip cameraguy. I've got several wetsuit swims planned before the race so hopefully I'll be able to acclimate well.

Well it sounds like you have thought this out. You'll be fine I'm sure. Good luck!
