Your inspiration for Martial Arts
Who inspired you to start martial arts, or boxing, or MMA of any kind? Or why did you start to begin with?
For me, it was Bruce Lee who gave me the real inspiration to try and further myself, both physically and mentally. But first, it was my uncle who got me into boxing. He gave me the know how to punch, and the facilities/equipment, and let me take it from there.
After that, it was Steven Seagal. I really wanted to learn how to toss people around like that.
Most recently, and I have no idea who this guy is, is from a video of of Limewire. The file is called "Martial Arts - 21 Jeet Kune Do Moves". It's not JKD in my opinion, it's Wing Chun. But JKD has a lot of influence from Wing Chun, but that's besides the point. This guy has crazy fast hands, and after seeing him punch that fast, he gave me the inspiration to try and achieve that kind of speed.
Anybody know who this guy is? If you haven't seen the video, I suggest you d/l it.

Personally, I just randomly started watching "The Ultimate Fighting" reality show one day. I fell in love and had to learn some mma for myself. Went to some boxing classes, bought a punching bag, and here i am! Loving every minute of boxing.

This has to be the greatest philisophical topic posted yet!!!!
To the point... I'm not sure what the official reason for my taking up martial arts. I'm a huge comic book fan--Batman, Superman, and Conan the Cimmerian are all great warriors amongst the fantasy worlds. Being a Batman fan--I think I was into DBZ as well--it was only natural that I took it up. The biggest turning point, however, was the fact that I got sick of carrying a weapon in my backpack when I was only ten years old.
I stopped for a while--we moved a lot--and would later take it up as an early teen. I, too, contribute my greatest accomplishments to Bruce Lee; I would give up almost anything for a day to train with him in the dojo in the clouds...
My closest training partners deserve a lot of credit, too. Oh, and my mom and my Latin teacher...

Self defense. I got bullied alot, so I started boxing. So I got fucked up in boxing and threw in the gloves but learned alot. After letting my body go to shit I almost got my ass kicked and realized I needed to get back in the game. Thats when BJJ came in. So basically, insecurity, the same reason I lift.

Comically enough, it was the tv show "Kung Fu" with David Carradine. As a young teenager, the thought of being peaceful with the ability to kick the crap out of people was most appealing.

I turned to the Martial Arts to replace wrestling after I finished school, many moons ago. I've trained in Karate & Jujitsu pretty much my entire adult life. I enjoyed competing when I was younger. Sadly those days are long gone. I still train today at 49, my focus now is Small Circle Jujitsu. I enjoy teaching the newbs, but now it is mostly just a part of my routine to stay fit.

I'd like to train people to. I hope that someday I can open a school for people to train in. There's so much to be learned in martial arts, so chances are there's something about it that somebody will enjoy.

A very unfortunate incident when I was 9 showed that I had talent and propensity in the martial arts without any training at that point and that I desperately needed the discipline to control my anger. Ever since that moment I have studied a few different forms over the years.

I've watched this series called "Fight Quest" and was inspired by the various martial arts from across the globe. I decided then and there that I had to be skilled in any one of the martial arts form..so after a bit of searching and you tubing i bumped into Mixed Martial Arts and I became a follower of this sport...it's been 6 months now I've been doing kick boxing and man i never felt so good after each session.
