Starting off...... UFC 71 - Liddell vs. Rampage:
First off, I know some people might be saying that the stoppage was premature, and I kinda thought it could have went a little longer.... However, watching the replays, Chuck was definitely out on the ground. The first shot crumpled him, and the third or fourth follow up shots on the ground knocked him out cold. Lights out , check the replay and you'll see his eyes close, and his body go limp. John McCarthy steps in, and in that split second Liddell recovered. Not premature in my opinion unless he was totally composed the whole time.
Overall, the rest of the card was pretty solid, I thought. Karo was definitely looking good in his matchup, I thought he dominated the entire fight, but Eddie Bravo scored a round for Burkman, which I'm not sure why.
Houston Alexander. Wow. All I can say is I have never seen such a hard punch from the clinch. Not sure where Jardine is to go from here. He's never really seemed like a really marketable fighter, IMO. Also, I'm not sure Houston 'slipped' like he claimed.
The Leben Starnes fight was a pretty upsetting fight for me. I don't really like Leben, but Starnes was running way too much in the fight, and Leben was pressing the action, doing damage, and trying to impose his will. Starnes didn't control him very well, and even in situations where Leben could have been in trouble, he didn't capitalize at all, instead just throwing one or two punch combinations, and not following up. Way too defensive a fighter
Din Thomas matchup was entertaining for me, and the rest of the card didn't really spark too much interest.
Not sure what's going on with Dan Henderson either. He has both Pride belts, and now UFC wants him to fight the new champ in their LHW division? I think Dan is great and seriously underrated, but what happened to the Pride/UFC superbowl that's supposed to end the year? Wouldn't that have been a better time to announce something like that?

I didn't see the whole card and just ended up watching the Liddel Rampage fight. I'm very happy though that Karo won. I think he could be a great champ someday. And poor Chuck. That must totally suck. I don't think it was a premature stoppage, but he sure did recover quick after he went limp.
Ya I don't know about that superbowl thing. It's such a good idea too. 1 night of huge names on a big card. That would draw so many people in. But if they keep using up their big fights for the year, who's going to be left?

K-1 Dynamite!!! was an alright show, at least what I saw of it. Brock Lesnar had a pretty impressive debut, but I don't really know too much about his late replacement. Although being a judoka, I really thought he should have done more to get out of Brock's mount. Sakuraba vs. Royce looked pretty identical to their first bout, except this time Royce decided to throw the leg kicks. I can only imagine how loud the crowd would be booing if their first hour and a half fight was broadcast in America. Didn't see it, but I heard the Melvin Manhoef Yoon Dong Sik fight was the one to watch. A bunch of action, and a submission victory for Sik

Dong Sik Yoon vs. Melvin Manhoef was a great fight. It started pretty much the way Manhoef wanted it to, he was working to KO Yoon quick, and was landing some good punches, but Yoon weathered the storm and was working for the takedown. From what I remember Yoon was able to survive the first, and then in the second round got a great takedown with a footswipe, and was able to flip into position to get Manhoef to tapout by Armbar (1:17 R2). Great victory for Yoon

Zab Judah vs Miguel Cotto
----------------------------------
What a fight. I just finished watching the replay of it. Zab hurt Cotto pretty good in the first two rounds, he was rocked. But ultimately, Zab couldn't handle the pressure of Cotto. Cotto suffered a gash under his lip, and over his eye, and Zab a cut over his eye as well, which swelled pretty much shut.
Cotto wins by TKO in the 10th I believe. Man what a good fight. Action packed all the way through. That's why I love boxing. You can't find that kind of action anywhere else.

^ watched a day or two ago... good fight, but I can't help but wonder if it would have been different without the low blows. I think Zab might have been exaggerating a little on the first low blow, but the second one had to have hurt. But ultimately a much better fight than De La Hoya Mayweather. Hope to see a rematch sometime down the line.

In case anyone happened to miss the TUF 5 finale
BJ Penn vs. Jens Pulver
-----------------------------
BJ dominates. Wins by a rear naked choke in round two, with a nifty trick with his legs. Pulver had escaped a couple of Penn's submissions throughout the fight, but BJ was just too much. Anyways, BJ got his back, then managed to use his legs to pin one of Jens's arms to his body, so Jens had only 1 arm to defend the choke. Their beef is squashed now.
Pauli Malinagi vs. Lovemore N'Dou
-------------------------------------------
This was for N'Dous title at 140 or something like that. Paulie schooled N'Dou in this fight winning every round, and scored a knockdown in round 8 or something, can't remember. He looked good, a little less concerned with showing off, which for me is huge. I can't stand guys who do that. So Paulie dominated the whole fight, sticking and moving, and not letting N'Dou hit him. Pretty good fight in my opinion.
Jose Louis Castillo vs. Ricky Hatton
--------------------------------------------
This was for Hatton's crown. Not once was Hatton in any kind of danger in this fight. He wins with a KO by body shot with my favourite punch, the left hook to the liver, in round 4. Castillo did look like a shot fighter as Max Kellerman had stated, but I don't think you can take anything away from Hatton. His hook and hold style got the job done, and once Castillo got hurt by that body shot, he didn't even try to get back up. At the end of it all, during the post fight interview, Max asked about Mayweather, and Hatton said...... "there was more action in these 4 rounds then in Floyds whole career" or something close to that. Oh I'd love to see that.

^BJ looked really good. Better than he has in a long time. He looked focused, and didn't gas. I'm a big fan, but he really threw away those fights with GSP and Hughes 2.
In other MMA news, Frank Shamrock dominated Phil Baroni to become the Strikeforce middleweight champ, and Murilo "Ninja" Rua KO'ed Joey Villasenor to become the EliteXC middleweight champ.
One thing I that was kinda weird about the Strikeforce/EliteXC PPV was that they had two middleweight titles on the line. After I saw the Ninja fight, I was like WTF when they said Shamrock was also fighting for a middleweight title. I know they are technically two separate organizations, but when they are on the same ppv card, and held all in one day, I think it gets a little confusing.
Those that follow Cung Le will be happy to hear he's now 3-0 in MMA after his KO victory over veteran Tony Fryklund. While he looks really good standing up, I'm anxious to see him fight against someone who will actually try and take him down.

^ Frank Shamrock? I didn't know he was still fighting.
Wladimir Klitschko vs Lamon Brewster 2
--------------------------------------------------
A thorough beating handed out by Wladimir for 6 rounds. Brewster's trainer Buddy Mcgirt, called it quits at the end of 6 because Brewster wasn't doing anything that was going to win him the fight. He was very gracious in his defeat, and I think he caught some un-necessary flak from the whole controversy surrounding the first fight. A great show by Wladimir and he won with his jab.

Tito Ortiz vs Rashad Evans
----------------------------------
They fight to a draw. Ortiz actually had a point taken away, which cost him his win. Wasn't really that exciting in my opinion.
Anderson Silva vs. Nate Marquart
------------------------------------------
Again, Silva so dominant. It went to the ground for the most part but that just didn't matter. Silva avoided a takedown, then reversed it so he spun around and was standing over Nate who was laying on his back. He then threw 1 perfect shot which KO'd Nate, and followed up with a couple more.

^ ya Frank Shamrock still fights in an organization called EliteXC, or was it Strikeforce? Either way, he fights for one of those organizations, they put on decent shows, actually. You should definitely check it out if you can. They usually show them on Showtime if you don't catch the PPV.
BTW, that reversal that Silva did was sweet.
Also on the last UFC card:
Sean Sherk vs. Hermes Franca for LW Title:
Sherk basically got cracked good in the beginning of every round, then used his superior wrestling to control the fight, typical Sherk fight ended in a decision with him decisively winning all rounds.
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Heath Herring
Nogueira's UFC debut... Nogueira pretty much controlled the entire fight, except for a left high kick that almost KO'ed him. Herring really should have won the fight, but he chose to back off him when another 4-5 seconds probably would have been enough to stop the fight.
