Common Cold
Hey guys and gals
Pretty pissed off MM here. Wasnt sure where to post this and like a complete noob didnt search to see if this had been posted before, but im sooo ill i cant be arsed to stop typing!
Well basically im full of a snotty nose, yep the common cold. all bunged up and a bit chesty too. So obviously im not in the GYM!! I hate not being in the gym.
I thought i'd let off a little steam and ask other members what they use to get them on the mend and the on the road to recovery. Please dont say " i go to the docs " lol. I hate doctors! Im getting better S l o w l y but its nice to know if you lot have any sure fire remedies which help if not cure.
So come on you've all been there, sat in bed upto your eyeballs in snotty tissues, eyes watering, cant taste anything, spitting out the occasional oyster! ewww.

Oyster.... lol!
I would not immediately suggest going ot the doc, since they cannot do much for a viral cold. A cold is usually symptomatic from the neck on up, so other than feeling achy and run-down, you should not have too many symptoms below the neck. Sounds like your head is totally blocked.
There is no cure. You can only alleviate the syptoms until your immune system wins the battle. That is why we feel like ccrap when we get a cold. Your body mounts a fight, and as a consequence, there is more mucous and inflammation.
Make sure you are hydrated so you can flush this stuff out. Also, make sure you are geting enough sleep and rest in order to recover. If you try to be a hero, you will prolong your symptoms. Make sure you are getting proper nutrition-- eat things that are easily digestable. No alcohol since it dehydrates you and stresses your system. Caffeine can dehydrate as well. Steamy baths/showers can help unclog your head.
Sometimes the mucosa from a cold, along with a weakened immune system, can bring other illnesses. This is where pneumonia can occur in some casses. I doubt this will happen for you, but just be reasonable. This may sound disgusting, but mucous should be reasonably clear. Anything with colors or strong odors can indicate a possible infection, and you should see your doctor.
A warning-- sometimes you don't realize how bad you felt until you start to feel better. Don't run out and squat 300 kilos just because you feel better! Give youself time to completely recover.
For now, just take it easy. Get rest. Stay hydrated. Eat soups. Take vitamins.
Gute Besserung!

I heard that if you drink apple vinegar with water then it cures your cold. If you try it, make sure that you get a big cup and only 25% of the cup is the apple vinegar and the rest is water.

When I get a cold, I'll take large amounts of vitamin C over the course of the day. Usaully around 3,000-4,000 mg. Chewables work best for me. I'll also take two 100mg zinc tablets, on ein the morning and one in the evening. A cold will usually run it's course in about 2 weeks. I've found over the years that this regiment will cut that time in half. Of course I'll drink plenty of fluids and try to get some extra rest. Hope this helps.

youll get over it in no time
thats why when i get the slightest symptom like sore throat or a bad headache i take some vitamin C asap. can the body even handle 3000mg of C? i heard after a certain amount its pointless like protein.
the virus is in you a couple weeks before the first sign of a symptom even starts to show. what helped me was to stop worrying about things like the cold itself. less stress as possible. just relax and use the free time wisely
