Tinnitus
I have had this constant low ringing noise in my ears for about 6 months now, i have self dignosed it as tinnitus and have come to the conclusion that it will never go away. It is like a very mild form of tinnitus as it does not cuase me any pain, or it does not take away my concentration, but i was wondering if anyone here has experiance this and recieved treatment which has helped them or have heard of anyone who has recieved treatment to get rid of this disorder?

I have a constant ringing in my ear...too many years of being around running aircraft and stuff blowing up too close...
I have a partial loss of hearing in one ear (~1/3) and the doc told me there isn't too much to do about it...
sometimes when the ringing gets a little too intense to be ignored, it actually effects my balance, I'll wear earplugs for 24 hours...looks kinda silly....but the next day I really hear better (at least it seems like it) and the ringing doesn't seem as bad...
were you exposed to loud noise? do you have high blood pressure?? I'd see a doc to let him check it out...

i got tinnitus about two years ago.
the ringing is constantly there but doesnt bother me much anymore. i went for head scans, this & that scans and every other bloody type of scan you can imagine. i went for hearing tests and my hearing is still pretty good.
as far as i know there is no "cure" for it. mine occured from overuse of loud music (rock-on). tis my own tuff shite.
i'd go with aircru's advice and see a doc. it may be nothing but the last thing you want is to lose hearing in an ear! my ears get clogged occasionally now with wax and man when it happens i really dont know what is going on! i gotta turn my head sideways to talk to people cuz i can only hear in one ear when this happens. fortunatley when i get the ear passage cleaned it's all good again!
it is possible that you have a wax buildup and from this blockage it mya cause a ringing sound in your ears! whatever you do don't try and clean it yourself! tried that! messed it up! bloody sore!
best a luck

yeah, my ringing is also constant but it doesnt bother me at all, only occasionally do i ever notice that i have a ringing, once their is some sort of outside noise i rarely ever hear it unless i focus on the ringing so its not that big of a problem, but i guess i should get it checked out in case its something as simple as wax buildup, is this wax buildup something that i wont be able to notice unless i go to a doctor?

Wax buildup is a possibility if this seemed to happen pretty suddenly. If wax is pushing on the timpanic membrane (ear drum), it is common to experience tinnitus (your hearing sensitivity will also be diminished). Also, as Aircru and Timzombie mentioned, tinnitus can be the result of hearing damage. And, tinnitus sometimes has no identifiable cause.
The ear is normally a self-cleaning organ, and may have wax buildup because of a foreign object or even allergies. If you think you have wax buildup, do not try to remove it yourself-- it has to be scooped out, and you most likely do not have the tools to do this. Anything you insert in your ear can impact the wax further, causing pain. Also, should you manage to touch your ear drum with any object, you will experience the most exquisite pain, along with the risk of rupturing the membrane. It is best to leave it to professionals.
Best of luck!

My brother got tinnitus from working in a call centre..now he hardly ever answers the phone, too paionful!! As far as I know, theres no cure. Perhaps someone above would like to volunteer for a few home remedies I've come up with myself??? Once I get a knife that will fit inside the ear drum I'm ready to roll...email me at Imasuckerforpain@hotmail.com!!

I have asymmetric tinnitus. In other words, the ringing in one ear is louder than the other. Sometimes the ringing will change to a low pitch all of a sudden and I get a little dizzy for few seconds. I would recommend going to a good ear nose and throat doctor to have it checked out. While there is really no cure for it, there are some tests that can be done to rule out some potentially serious conditions. Also the tinnitus might be the early stages of meniere's disease. I don't mean to scare anyone with that but I suggest you "Google" it to find out what it is all about. There is a steroid treatment should it become severe to the point that it interferes with your normal day to day life. The important thing here is to go see a good ENT doctor. Take care.

and i can tell you that hurts!
being the fool-of-a-took that i am i tried years ago to clean the ear myself! as sucher said i managed to compact the wzx further and man oh man did that hurt! i have a feeling that due my stupidity the first time around i caused the ringing damage to worsen!
so yes a doctor is the best option!
