Ambien question real quick
my sleeping has been whack for about a month now, up all night, sleep all day..
my mom said i should take one of her ambien's and try to get back on path.
so my question is, without a doctors word, and never taking any type of sleeping pill before, will i have any troubles, from what my mom tells me its pretty strong, but i really need to get back on a good sleeping pattern.

Hello Burks,
Let's Talk About The Ambien Rx.
I Would Have To Ask First, Why Is Your Sleep Become A Problem ? Schedule Change? Illness? Injury? Or Maybe Partying? I Don't Know The Particuliars, But I Would Be More Inclined To Try And Figure Out Exactly What Is Causing The Issue Before You Start Taking This Rx.
I Have Been Taking It For Almost 4 Years Now On A Nightly Basis. I Take It Generally About A Half Hour Before I Go To Bed. It Works Pretty Well For Me. Not Quite As Good As I Would Like It To, But I Really Don't Want To Take Anything Stronger Than This. My Issues Are More Than Likely Much Different Than Yours, I Am Pretty Much Willing To Bet On That! I Deal With A Tremendous Amount Of Constant And Chronic Pain On A Daily And Nightly Basis. For Years The Most Or Longest Period Of Continuous Sleep I Would Get Would Be About An Hour And A Half At A Stretch. Sometimes Less. My Reasons, Well I Have Been Rear Ended In Auto Accidents 5 Times In, It Will Be 19 Years This June. 3 Neck Operations, Two Hip Operations, 3 Back Operations And Now They ( The Doctors Want To Do Another Back Operation.).
Ambien Is A Pretty Strong Medication. It Can Be Very Addictive And The Side Effects Can Cause Drowsiness During The Daytime. But See, Everyone Is The Same, But Everyone Is Different If You Can Understand What I Am Saying. My Dosage Is 10 Mg Nightly. They Do Have A Lessor Dosage I Believe.
I Am Not An Advocate Of Taking Someone Elses Meds, But If You Decide To Try It From Your Family Member, Be Careful And Watch How You React To The Medication. Keeping In Mind, All Meds Have Their Drawbacks.
My Suggestion Would Be To Have A Sit And Chat With Your Doctor. Maybe He Or She Would Be Willing To Give You Some Samples To Try Or A Trial Rx.
As I Say Though, Do Some Soul Searching And Look For The Reason That You Are Having The Problem. Maybe You Can Resolve It On Your Own Without The Drugs.
So, Think About It First! And Then Be Careful!
Good Luck And I Hope This Will Shed Some Light On The Issue For You.

You should know that it's against the law to take someone else's prescription. That being said Ambien is a very safe drug. It has abuse potential but keep in mind that it was developed to be less habit-forming than it's predecessors (Benzodiazepines like Ativan, Xanax, and Restoril). Note that I said "habit-forming" and not "addictive". There is no physical dependency syndrome with Ambien. That is, if you take it for a long time and then stop taking it you will not experience withdrawal (other than possibly some "rebound insomnia") like you do with Heroin, alcohol, or even caffeine. I agree with the first poster who suggested you examine why you are having trouble sleeping. Alcohol, coffee, and stress are prime suspects. But, if all else fails a few nights of Ambien is very safe. I often take it on long plane rides when I would otherwise be unable to sleep

It really shouldn't be habit forming if you take it for a couple of days to get yourself back on track. And for the record, you should get your own prescription.

ambien doesnt work for me, it makes me a walking zombie and i cant sleep at all after it. my friend who takes it does crazy stupid stuff all night and doesnt remember doing it. it also makes you eat like crazy but still you dont remember it.
i tried trazadone and it knocks me out in mins and i sleep all night and hard too. however i wake up all dehydrated like a hangover feeling.
i also tried seroquel too, it kinda works but not very well. but it made me feel weird for a few days after each time i used it.
