After Heart Attack Medications
Hi All
My Grandmother is making(thank God)a full recovery from suffering a heart attack and I was wondering does she have to remain on medication for the rest of her life coz Ive had 2 doctors give me 2 ideas in this regards so without sounding too morbid has any other member gone through what Iam currently going through-thanks in advance.

I am glad your grandmother is doing better! As far as the medications go, the decision as to which medications and the duration of these medications is entirely her doctor's call. If you are talking about coumadin or Plavix, then the odds are that she will be on them long term as they are designed to thin the blood and prevent clotting. Since the heart attack is a result of clots clogging up tiny arteries, reducing the chance of getting them will reduce her risk of having a second heart attack or a stroke.

and most heart attack victims have high blood pressure problems that lead to the heart problems. blood pressure is one of the most common overlooked culprits that totally mess up a persons life. it chokes out the smaller capillary vessels in the body shutting down blood flow in the smaller vessels possibley developing many sides such as PAD and various others. 2 many sides to list! more then likely she will be on pressure pills 2 for life. wouldnt hurt to ask the doctor if some simvastatin would be usefull if needed also for cholesterol buildup. little meds such as what i mentioned can help her avoid future risks in the long run.

Being on blood thinners can definitely make it easier to bleed from anywhere, so this could be the cause. I am not sure I have an answer to your question. She should probably seek advice from a dentist.

i would have 2 go along with toons advice. i did a search and found several remedies but theres 2 many cautions for elderly people listed in them such as asthma attack and such. you really need 2 consult a medical prefessional on this situation.

Again I thank ALL concerned for the input into this thread and YES Grandma has seen her dentist in this regards-I only started this thread to get other peoples opinions just in case their experiences and help was different from what the so called experts gave and I say again THANKS to all contributors.
