Hiking?
Is this also an area where you can list spots you've been hiking or places you'd like to go?

Sure! I know enough people from the gym who do hikes or climbs, so figured this might be a good new section to add.

Still my favorite hike. Completed it once, gonna do it again...
Grand Traverse across the KwaZulu Natal Drakensberg Escarpment. From the North to the Bushman’s Nek police border post in the South(Border of Lesotho).
The Grand Traverse covers a distance 222 kilometers, climbing 13 kilometers, and descending 13 kilometers. A total walking distance of 249 kilometers, in only 12 days.
Once I scan the pictures (I did it before I had didital) I'll post.

Nice! Hiking is awesome and good exercise. It's also a great way to stay connected with friends. There's nothing like fresh air, good conversation and a beautiful view! Getting off trail and exploring is a great way to recapture youth!
Sucky thing is this has been a summer with no hiking due to a bum ankle!
Oh well, here are my top three hikes:
#3 Mt. Washington in NH
#2 Tumbledown Mountain @ Mt. Blue State Park, Weld, ME
#1 --- A secret and select spot: Black Mountain in Peru, Maine. Known to few, summited by fewer. No trails, but tons of great views and cool areas to explore. The final push involves climbing up pretty vertical rock face on either side of a waterfall. AWESOME! Once at the top, there is vast flat ground for even more exploring, great views and celebration!

I'm looking forward to it. I want to get out that way myself.
Best quick day hike near Portland OR (imo).
Hamilton Mountain. Less than 3 hours up and down, 30 mins from town (WA side), 2800' in 3.5 miles?. Choice views and lots of lookouts.
Copy-paste the link I guess.

I'm only 14 so I really haven't done much hiking but I did to Mt. Washington in NH this summer which was a really nice hike.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon (a few years ago) at the Peaks of Otter Lodge on the Blue Ridge Parkway and there were several hikes you could take one of which was to the top of Sharp Top Mountain. With a 1,400 foot ascent in 1.5 miles, it is probably not as challenging as some the hikes mentioned in this thread, but it's a good beginning hike and the view (360 degrees), is spectacular once you're on top.
